Yea I have the sam system...its great! My laser got old as well. I looked up on line and ordered a $40 new reader...put it in myself..piece of cake. It won't read or spin cause it can't see. You can make sure it has power to it, but most likely like mine it has burnt out.

I have a LG blu ray player that hums or buzzes whenever I play a DVD. If doesn't do it through the speakers but from within the player itself?

The Laser Pickup Unit's lens of your DVD player is dirty or dusty. Clean it. Just use a lens cleaning disc to clean it. Just buy one, if you haven't. It can be bought from most of the local electronic spare part selling shops at your town, and won't cost more. Play it at least two times. It will clean up the lens automatically. When the laser pickup units' lens is dirty, the laser beam that reflects from the disc will have a very low intesisty, and the mechanism alongwith its control circuits, will try to compensate this, by rotating the disc inserted at very high speed, and that is why you hear Hum from (within) the system. OK.

When trying to play an audio cd ER appears on the screen model # 916 Thank you

The error code you are receiving is either due to a dirty laser lens, or a burnt out lens.

You can try to resolve the problem by cleaning the head of the laser lens using a ear bud with some surgical spirits, or you can try a laser lens cleaning CD.

If none of the above works, the laser lens itself is probably burnt out.

Please fell free to contact me if you need any further assistance.

Kind regards

Cd does not turn and message is (disc no) on screen

OK, if the CD does not even spin at start up, this might be internal motor problem. If the CD turn and then stop, you have a "dirty" or burnt laser lens.

If this is a dirty lens, you will be able to clean the lens by putting a laser lens cleaner disc into the player. If this does not work it is either a burnt out lens, or a motor problem.

You will be able to buy the laser lens cleaner disc at any CD/DVD outlet.

Kind regards

When I put a disk into the console, the disk won't load and says Disk Read Error. I've cleaned the disk many times, but it still won't work.

laser lens might be dirty.
if your laser lens is easily accessable, use a q-tip dipped in rubbing alcohol to clean it. use other side of q-tip to dry lens.
you could also use a laser lens cleaner for video game systems.
hope this helps :D

Message ''disc is dirty'' appears

now u need to clean the player:

Be careful how you use this, but u can utilize canned air to blow out the debris from your player.
get a laser lens cleaner kit from walmart or something, it will cleans your laser lens inside the dvd player for you, if the canned air and laser lens cleaner doesn't work, your last resort is to completely unplug the player to see if it resets itself, if none of those works i would turn the player in under warranty or take it back to the store.

DVD player

My Smasung DVD/VCR Combo stopped reading DVDs because of a dirty read head. It started by only playing disks sometimes, and progressed to never playing disks. I assumed it was a dirty laser lens so I bought a lens cleaner set. Unfortunately my player wouldn't play the cleaner disk.

So I took it apart and cleaned the laser lens manually with some isopropyl alcohol (the clenser that came with my cleaning disk), and a lens cloth (that came with my glasses). Just open the case (starting with the screws in the back) and remove the snap in cross panel that obscures the lens of the DVD portion. Put a drop of cleanser on the lens and gently wipe it with the cloth.

Oh and by the way, I take no responsibility if you break your own player while following my instructions. My own DVD player was far out of warranty at the time I cracked it open.
