Question about Teac PD-H500 CD Player

1 Answer

I mistakenly cleaned the with a cleaning solution a few years ago, since then the Teac PD-H500 has trouble recognising any CD, hence will not play the CD; instead all I hear is a clicking noise. over the years i have taken it to be repaired and have been told there is nothing wrong with the system. to this day i'm still experencing the same problems. I read somewhere this might be due to the DAC? Can you help?

If I were you I would get hold of good magnifying glass or one that jewelers use and look into the lens of the device (power off of course). If you can see a scratch or smudge or damage then that's the reason the CD wont read.
Sorry if it is then it's likely you will need a new one and they are expensive.

Does anyone know how to de-code or hack a TEAC DV-H500 cd/dvd player. After owning for several years i still can't play or watch many disc's. Many Thanks

This works with some dvd players, don't know if it'll work with yours... With the remote, open the tray... punch in 9,9,9,9...and then enter, and then '0' and hit enter again. This breaks the region code or allows playing of any disk.

I have the same problem in a 10yr+ one. Am told that this is because the laser has gone weak. A complete CD mechanism is available from Acoustic Services - 01844 347600 for about £80 all in.

I had the same problem in 2007: I removed the cover and manually encouraged the cd drawer to open. It has been working ever since.

I works mechanically, but doesn't play the CD

try cleaning the lens first use a lint free swab and GENTLY clean the lens. don't use any liquid on this. if that doesn't work then load a disc and gently spin the disc when it lifts into load posistion. if begins to spin on it's own then replace the spindel motor. if it still does not spin, replace the optical pickup, the EF sensors inside the pickup no longer have the ability to read (see) the disc.

Commercially pressed CD's not recognised

Have you tryed to clean the les yet? Try to use a lens cleaning disc. If that does'nt help them you may need to take off the top and very carefully clean the lens very lightly with a cotton swab and a little alcohol. If that doesnt help the sevo alighnments might be off alighnment and unless you have special equipment and tools your not going to be able to do this your self BUT a repair shop might also make it cost prohibitive.. You may if the cleaning doesnt work is go shopping for a new player. Good Luck
