Question about Whirlpool LER5636P Electric Dryer
Smells like a snake crawled up into the motor and my son turned it on....now it hums and drum won't turn...anything special I need to worry about before I get in there? It's unplugged.
Unplug it and pull it away from the wall.
flat screw driver under the lid, it just pops open. next the face pulls forward and off, there might be screws inside at the top.
the drum rides on the face...once the face is away from the drum throw the new belt around the drum...you'll see a stain where the old one was riding. then put the face back on...have to lift up on the drum a little. ok around the back you can see a trap door held on by two screws ...open that. you'll see the pullies the belt needs to wrap around....put them on the pullies....put the top and back on again....plug it in and test it.
it's a good idea to vaccume out the dryer and pick up any loose change while your inside there :0)
i wish you luck...

Not really, it may only be a little effort to figure out how the new belt gets wrapped onto the tensioner pulley...the broken one is surely on the floor coiled up under the dryer like a dead snake....don't worry...it's dead.
