Question about Compaq Computers & Internet

2 Answers

I have a Compaq desk-top computer and I have installed Fine Pix to download pictures from my digital camera. I have opened files in "My Pictures" for each year. My file for 2006 has simply dissapeared along with all the pictures that were in it ! I've tried restoring what looks like some of the pictures from Re-cycle bin but I cannot locate the items that I've restored ! Can you help ?

No 1, when I go into the recycle bin it does not allow me to "see" the picture

If I see what looks like a 2006 date (the year that was lost) I restore it

But then its not back in "My Pictures" so where is it ?

If I do start > search what do I type in ?

My Pictures, 2006 (the name of the folder ?)

I have followed your advice and have thankfully found most if not all of the photos that were in my 2006 folder

I have copy pasted them back into a new 2006 folder that I opened

The only reservation that I have is that whereas before they were sorted into seperate files for each date in 2006 that I had downloaded the pictures, they are all now jumbled together in that one 2006 folder (about 100 pictures)

Is there any easy way of puting them back as they were before ?

If they don't go back when you press on restore file(s) then no, you will have to move them yourself.

The files where possibly moved before being deleted so the recycle bin returns it to the last known location. You will have to move them by hand.

If you see the pictures in the recycle bin, right click and restore the file. It will go back to the location where it was deleted from.
If you cannot locate then try try start > search

This should help...let me know.

Thanks

No 1, when I go into the recycle bin it does not allow me to "see" the picture? Yes it will only allow if you restore the file.

If I see what looks like a 2006 date (the year that was lost) I restore it

But then its not back in "My Pictures" so where is it ? Yes that mean it not deleted from My Pictures.

If I do start > search what do I type in ? type in the name of any picture file that you had in 2006.

My Pictures, 2006 (the name of the folder ?)

If you dont find it even after searching whole system. then it is delete from the recycle bin too.

    Any try this software..

HOW DO I LOAD MY PICTURES FROM DIGITAL CAMERA TO MY COMPUTER

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program.

Consider NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

Cannot download pictures from 4GB SDHC SanDisk Card

If your card reader is working, the card will show as a drive in "My Computer". Open the drive and you should see your photos.
On your desk-top, right click and select "New" then "folder" and name it "Camera Photos".
Select the photos you want to transfer from the camera card, select "file" from the windows toolbar, then "cut".
Open your new desktop folder and select "file" again from the toolbar, then, "paste".
Your photos should transfer in a minute or so.

Computer does not recognize camera and unable to download pix???? It sounds like a bad usb cable connection. Try purchasing a new cable.

Camera shows there are no pictures

The type of memory in the pix micro is called volatile RAM. Unlike flash memory that you find in thumb drives that do not require a charge to store data the volatile RAM needs a charge to hold anything. If you left the pictures on the camera the memory will be pulling a charge from the batteries constantly until the pictures are downloaded to your computer and then removed from the camera or until the battery dies or is removed. Replace the battery with a new and it should be fine. Just be sure you download the pictures to your computer and then delete them from the camera to maintain good battery life.
Also make sure you install the software on your computer before connecting the camera.
