1.Battery drains out very fast if the signal strength in your area is low to medium. Confirm if you have the problem with battery at a location where there is good coverage. If the problem is there, then proceed to the next step. Or else, it could be due to coverage issues.
2. Also, see if a different SIM produces the same observation. Sometimes, old SIMs can use up battery power very easily. If this is the case, then try to obtain a new SIM (Probably your network provider will have some formalities for issuing a duplicate SIM)
3. None of these work out, then have to get your set inspected at a Nokia Care Point. It will be free if your handset is under warranty.
4.Let the battery drain out completley then give it a good 3 hour charge
5.Go to this site http://europe.nokia.com/get-support-and-software/learn-how/check-your-battery
6.If you have a cable[USB] for your phone...just keep updating it.

Spoke to our Nokia repair centre, 4.17 is the latest version, but it could be (and I quote) "the power circuit needs re tuning" which basically means send it back to Nokia under warrenty. Hope this helps with CPW .
Some minor tips :
Are you using a screensaver at all? What about your wallpaper? Is it static?
There have been endless debates about the battery life of the 8800 - it''s the small form factor of the battery, it''s the circuit board, firmware will fix the problem...
I''ve had my 8800 since release and the only time I''ve had battery issues was when my battery was coming to end of life. Until then, with average use, I only needed to charge my phone every 3 or 4 days.
The lady on the Nokia helpline said she''s "heard" that the Sirocco battery (BP-6X) has a longer life than the original 8800 and should work with the original 8800 as well.
Thanks for contacting Fixya
