Question about Cell Phones

3 Answers

Hi. My Nokia 8800 powers off after a minute of calltime on full battery charge. Phone says Battery low and switches off. Or goes down from full charge to 2-3 bars in under a minute of talktime. When turned back on shows a full charge again, but same thing happens. Got 2 batterys for it, same problem with both. Model: Nokia 8800 RM-13. Firmware V04.10 Batterys used BL-5x (batterys are less then 12 months old). Please advice. Any help is much appreciated. Regards Vince

    ..Thanx e-Guru for your advice.

Unfortunatelly the ph is not under warranty anymore.

Please advice how to get a latest 4.17 firmware and what "power circuit retuning" involves and who could do it outside factory warranty.

..So far phone retailers so called "nokia specialists" advised to change the battery, but I'm sure its not just about that, however I've heard as well that scirocco batterys are better..

..By the way I'm in New Zealand, so getting an expert advice on a matter like this been pretty hard so far :) as its not a very common phone down here.

    Thanx

1.Battery drains out very fast if the signal strength in your area is low to medium. Confirm if you have the problem with battery at a location where there is good coverage. If the problem is there, then proceed to the next step. Or else, it could be due to coverage issues.

2. Also, see if a different SIM produces the same observation. Sometimes, old SIMs can use up battery power very easily. If this is the case, then try to obtain a new SIM (Probably your network provider will have some formalities for issuing a duplicate SIM)

3. None of these work out, then have to get your set inspected at a Nokia Care Point. It will be free if your handset is under warranty.
4.Let the battery drain out completley then give it a good 3 hour charge

5.Go to this site http://europe.nokia.com/get-support-and-software/learn-how/check-your-battery

6.If you have a cable[USB] for your phone...just keep updating it.

Hi,

Spoke to our Nokia repair centre, 4.17 is the latest version, but it could be (and I quote) "the power circuit needs re tuning" which basically means send it back to Nokia under warrenty. Hope this helps with CPW .

Some minor tips :

Are you using a screensaver at all? What about your wallpaper? Is it static?
There have been endless debates about the battery life of the 8800 - it''s the small form factor of the battery, it''s the circuit board, firmware will fix the problem...

I''ve had my 8800 since release and the only time I''ve had battery issues was when my battery was coming to end of life. Until then, with average use, I only needed to charge my phone every 3 or 4 days.

The lady on the Nokia helpline said she''s "heard" that the Sirocco battery (BP-6X) has a longer life than the original 8800 and should work with the original 8800 as well.

Thanks for contacting Fixya

While talking the phone is switching off.why?

Talking on a cellphone uses lot's of power. It could be that your battery charge is low, or battery is malfunctioning. Full charge your cellphone then call someone and see if the problem still persists.

Its batteries goes down just in few hours, and when it start to charge its says full battery. ??????

You need to replace the battery and take good care of the new one.The battery has a microchip inside, that microchip funtion is to indicate the charge level,if you connect the phone to the charger everytime you end a phone call or every time you are not using the phone, that is not good because the microchip go bad and then start sending the wrong info to the phone. You need to charge the battery when you get the message "LOW BATTERY" and wait until is fully charge.

Good Luck!!!

When making a call or answering a call the mobile battery level comes down and showing battery low and get switched off. i have changed orginal battery and formated after that also same problem occurs.

maybe your did not reformat your mem card?

if you just replaced the battery with a brand new genuine one from a reputable dealer then we have no prob with the batt except you get a factory defect if your lucky. hehehe...

some that they call it viruses can also drain a new battery even at full charge in just minutes.

try to remove your memory card and format it in your pc or other non-nokia phones.

reformat again your phone by typing *#7370# and wait until your phone boots again.

don't insert back your mem card until you're certain they are clean and being reformatted again. cause some viruses goes to your mem card.

try it.

Nokia 8800 has the worst battery ever. Its a known issue. You need to have your phone flashed at a nokia service center, and get the new 8800 battery which ships on the 8800 sirocco BL6X.
