Question about Sony NWZ-E438F Digital Media Player

Nwz-e438f will not play, or connect to computer

This device is less than six months old. It stopped working. It will not show up or connect to a computer. I've tried hitting the reset button. I've tried plugging it into other computers with the usb. Nothing. All that happens when I hit play is that the "Walkman" logo pops up for about one second. Any ideas? I hope this thing is not dead already!

Hi I'm Richard M.R.
about your problems if your familiar in handling small chips and know the basic of handling, like grounding your self to remove static electricity to your body,... open up your device,... and you will see a black and red wire from the battery to the board then all you have to do slowly remove the battery clip in the main board, to disconnect the power source, then leave it about 5 to 10 minutes,... then without returning the clip,... plug the usb while pressing the play button if not working try the reset button,... then when turn on dont unplug it return the battery clip in the main board then MAGIC, charge it then enjoy.....

Please try connecting the Walkman to a different USB port on the Computer and check if that helps.

Please make sure that there is no other USB devices connected to the Computer at the same time.

If there was no change after the player was reset, connect it to the computer and reset it again, leaving it connected.

Keep the Walkman connected to the Computer for 4 hours to fully charge the battery. Then, check whether the Walkman is working properly.

Ensure that the HOLD switch is not activated.

If the issue still persists after performing the steps provided above service of the Walkman is required.

Sometimes the method used to connect the USB-driven device to the computer will cause the deveice's interface to permanently fail. In most instances, it takes something else with it in the main chip. The chip is the heart of the device. Repair will be almost as expensive as a new player and you will still have an "old" player too. Clearly, we live in a throw-away society.

SOURCE: my nwz-e438f walkman wont charge anymore.

Hi hellohello21,
attach the supplied cable directly to the computer's USB port (don't use any other extension cord simultaneously). If that doesn't work, check if you've some problems with your USB driver.

NWZ-E348F Video Problem

Hello,

Assuming that you mean the NWZ-E438F model, when using the Media
Manager for Walkman, it has no conversion tool.

For transferring video the Content Transfer software should be used
and installed first.

Sony Walkman (NWZ-E438F) won't turn on

It sounds like you followed the directions, so the device may be defective.

Your laptop's USB port has enough power to use other similar devices? If so, I'd take it back for an exchange.

By the way, it's a great device, so don't give up yet!

My computer is not charging or recognizing my Sony Walkman.

I seem to have resolved the problem. I investigated the drivers through the control panel. When I selected the walkman I received a message that said there was an error in the driver registration and a reference to code 19. After researching code 19 on-line, I uninstalled and reinstalled the driver and everything is now working normally. I should mention that I did try the reset button, and it did not work for my problem, but it also didn't cause any other problems.

Error message when loading videos to my Sony NWZ-E438F

I got the same message when I created .mp4 files using the AVC profile "Main" in my video software.

When I changed to "Baseline" then the problem went away. Of course, it also had to follow all the more obvious restrictions for this device: max resolution 320x240, max 30fps, max bitrate (of 512kbbs? or is it 768?) and AAC audio.
