Question about AEG MCD343EUM 750 Watts Microwave Oven

Open Question

Broken lock on Micromat 153 E Aeg

I have a similar Problem, but have been able to take the cover of the machine off and release the broken bit of Lock. The problem is how to replace the broken lock on the door. The video is not realy a help because it is a very different model. If you take the microwave protection panel out you still can not get at the fixing for the lock.
How to replace the lock? or does it mean a completely new door.?
Problem is I canĀ“t find a company that supplies replacement door.?
Your help and advice would be much appreciated. Another problem is I am in Tenerife Canary Islands. There is not much good after sales service here.

SOURCE: Hi. I pressed the 'quickstart'

The first thing I would suggest is a hard reset. Unplug the unit for a minute or so. Then plug it back in, set the clock and try again.

If that doesn't work, leave it unplugged for maybe an hour. Then let us know if the hard reset does not fix it.

It may be a problem with a door switch or door switch mount.

SOURCE: Micromat oven removal from built in cabinet

Usually the screws are on the side behind the door so you must first open it. If your oven fits well and does not move it is possible that there are no screws.

Sharp R-305KS door release problem

Yes it is possible the door open lever got broken in shipping.

If your model has anti-tamper screws, you can remove them using using a T20H Torx type or GTXH20-100 screwdriver. If the correct tool is not available, there are several ways to remove the screws:

- Use a hammer and a small punch or similar tool to knock out the middle post of the screw, then use a standard T20 Torx bit to remove the screws. (Use safety glasses).

- Insert a small flat-bladed screwdriver (such as a jeweler’s type) into the slot between the post and the edge, tap the screwdriver firmly with a hammer to loosen the screw, grip the screwdriver with pliers, and remove the screw.

- Use a hacksaw or Dremel tool to cut a slot in the head of the screw, then use a flat-bladed screwdriver to remove the screws. (Use safety glasses).

Once the cover's off, you can see the door opening parts. It's probably the lever.

The best place to order Sharp parts is Tritronics.

Door latch has broken and is stuck inside locking mechanism

I'm not familiar with non-US models, but you would probably have to use needle nose pliers to pull it out.

If that won't work, you'd have to remove the outer cover of the oven, and then you can see how the door latch heads (the hook-like devices sticking out of the door) interact with the door latches and the opening mechanism.

Then you can call AEG at the number in your manual to see if they will sell replacement parts.

If you don't have the manual / IFU, then I would suggest contacting the manager at the dealership from which you purchased the oven to see if they have contact info for AEG.

To replace your latch heads, normally you have to separate the door panels (as shown in the attached photo) and then you'll see the previously hidden screws you need to remove.

Or you can watch a YouTube video (not a video I made) that demonstrates how it's done.
