Clunk when pulling off from stop

Hi. I have a 2006 outlander auto. When I first drive the car after reversing out of driveway I hear a clunk noise. It only happens after I have reversed the car. I can stop and go once I get going from intersections lights etc without it doing it again until I reverse and go again.

SOURCE: reversing lights not work

sounds like it could just be the reverse sensor located on the acctual gearbox under bonnet, you can tell which one it is as it is one of possible two.

2006 BMW X3 3.0 I hear a clunking noise when I start driving. The transfer case motor actuator was just changed 4 days ago. What is causing the noise?

The Clunk could be many things so a bit more detective work is needed. When Exactly does it 'Clunk''? is it any of the following?
-As you 'rev' the engine in neutral?
-As you put it in gear?
-As you change gear?
-As you start to pull away from a stop?
-As you apply the Brakes?
-As you release the park brake?
-As you turn into tighter corners and junctions?
Please comment below with more information and I'll see if I can help you more.

Heard a clunk while driving diesel ford excursion now when drive and reverse don't work....any ideas what problem is?

If it is a four wheel drive check your tail shaft or drive line by securing the vehicles front wheels jack up the rear tires and in park try to rotate the drive line if you can hear the transmission sound like it is going into gear the transfer case could be damaged! If not a four wheel drive pull the transmission dipstick and look to see if the fluid is dark red or metallic grayish color if so then you're clutch disks inside the tyranny have been worn out and it needs to be rebuilt!

I have clunk noises coming from the differential as the car is coming to a stop. There seems to be too much play in the unit. The transmission tail shaft and bushing have been replaced and the ring and...

NAW, sounds like you need the updated slip yoke and "special" spline lube, I would think your local dealer would have done that way before going into the diff. Or maybe they did and I didn't post it?
I've also found sway bar end links to cause a clunk but you will usally hear this when you are turning or going over a bump also, But once or twice I have found them to be the problem with stops or starts only!
If it's 4x4 then you could try and narrow it down by pulling the rear drive line and going for a short drive in 4 wheel drive and see if the noise is gone.
Reoport back with you findings for further assistance

1966 mustang coupe motor 289,4 barrel carb.automatic trans. makes a noise when put in reverse,is this normal?

What kind of noise? A clunk, chatter, whir, grinding, or what? If it's a clunk, you may have a worn U-joint. Test by holding brake on and change between drive and reverse and back. If you hear a "clunk" when the tranny engages, it's probably a worn U-joint. Not a hard repair to do in the driveway. Always change BOTH front and rear U-joints - if one's worn, so's the other.

I am sorry to have to tell you this but it sounds to me like your transmission is shot and will need a rebuild. If you can get it to a transmission shop they will tell you 100% what wrong with it. .
