Question about Toshiba 62HMX84 62" Rear Projection HDTV
I have a samsung 42 in rear projection tv and the color is all wavy. Tried the auto calibration from the remote control and did not fix problem. Is there a cheap way to fix this or is it more expensive than what the TV is worth? It was purchased in 2004-2005.
Hi, if you are not able to adjust the convergence using the remote you will need to replace the convergence chips.
1) Convergence menu does not work for one or more colors.
Such as: Red moves up,down, but left or right fails.
2) Screen is bowed looking.
If you have one or more of the problems above you need to replace the convergence chips. You can get a kit and instructions from www.TvRepairKits.com
Hope this helps :)

this is very common with these sets. the fix is to replace 11 very very smal capacitor on what is known as the hypermodule. The ideal sitation is to replace the hypermodule. if you can find it. I can do this repair. I have done about 10 at the shop. if you need to i would suggest finding someone who is very experence in surface mounted repair
