Do you use WD40 on the blades between sessions

If you have been cutting resinious branches there is more than a chance that the blades are seized together.

You could try putting the blades into a bucket of very hot soapy water (Without a power line attached or the battery removed )

Leave them to soak for a couple of hours, take them out of the water and give them a try, if they run then dry the blades off with a hair dryer and apply some oil to the surfaces.

If they donT then you have stripped the teeth on the gearbox and you may as well dump them as it will be cheaper to buy a new machine than it is to get B&D to repair it

You have to dismantle the unit and realign the blades with the gears.

Why is blade not moving?

Either the gears are trashed, OR SOME machines have a "CENTRIFUGAL CLUTCH" [a safety feature] between the engine and the blades. This is to ensure that the blades don't move when idling, and move when at full throttle.

IF your machine has this feature, then it's possible that the clutch has worn out and is slipping so badly that the blade won't move.

Neuton cordless hedge trimmer may need new motor. the blade does not go back and forth

Primary gear on motor shaft may be stripped, no source for replacement known. I have the same problem motor runs but blades do not move.

Blade wont move

there is a broken gear in the gear reduction box. (explain:) the motor spins at a high rpm, the chain moves at a 1/4 or less rpm than the motor. a series of gears reduces the speed, which in turn creates torque, allowing the saw to have the force to keep cutting without stopping. One of the gears is broken or a keyway on a shaft is sheared...as far as i know, no electrical power tools are rebuildable. it's a safety thing (electric shock if reassembled wrong...they are priced for replacement...get a new one...

I have the black and decker grasshog (non cordless) which long turns. i've replaced the line, and it powers up but no turning of the wheel.

possible stripped plastic reduction gear (just inside bottom of motor housing). Make sure that no grass is bound up between moving and non moving parts. This is a chronic problem and will lock up the unit.

B&D Corded Circular Saw - Arbor Does Not Move

This model is not equipped with a clutch so its possible that the gears are stripped, shaft broken. If the blade moves freely then this is probably the case. If blade does not move freely, check for any foreign objects between blade and blade housing. I hope this has helped if you have any further questions don't hesitate to ask. Please rate on the helpfulness of the answer. Good Luck and have a great weekend.

The motor works but strimmer does not rotate

If the head does not turn, but the motor runs freely, then the reduction gear is damaged. It is inside the motor housing. If the motor tries to run but does not rotate, then there is likely material bound up between the moving and non-moving parts.

How do I remove the blade and reinstall a new blade in my Navigator saw. Thanks.

Before you can mount a new blade onto your black and decker navigator you must make sure the holding pin, (the flat side of the oval part) is paralell to the bottom of the saw. If it is not push the black button that pushes the pin out as hard as you can and with a small wrench move it into the proper position. Mount you blade @ 90 degrees and push it up into position

My B & D electric hedge trimmer blades are frozen

spray liberally with wd40, let side and hour spray rag with wd40 and clean blades and look for any bent teeth in blade that maybe binding them as u clean use pliers and screwdriver to move if any found, it is likely that wither sap dried or rust formed and is creating too much friction for blades to move wd40 will help free up blades

You're going to take off like 20 screws including the ones that hold the handle and the hood at the base of the blade. You open it like a clamshell. There is a black plastic cover at the very bottom that covers the gear wheels (one tiny wheel that comes from the motor and a large wheel that actually moves both blades back and forth). The black plastic cover is no attached with screws. You just remove it so you can get to the gears. Now you oil and manipulate the large gear wheel until it comes loose and you can see the blades move back and forth. Put the whole thing back together and you are ready to go!
