The problem is the wiring insulation in the headlight units is breaking down. Remove and check yours. There are lots of complaints about the R/F park light staying on, also complaints of the check lights warning coming on when driving but no bulbs are blown - all lights are working. I traced the fault on my 03 3.2 Touareg to the insulation on the wiring within the headlight had cracked and come away, this would short the park light circuit when the headlamp self leveling system moved within the headlamp units. This would bring up my check lights waning and then after a few more times it would then blow the fuse. I replaced the fuse and found the parklight would now stay on. I traced the fault to the Onboard Power Supply Control unit located under the dash just above the gas pedal. We are right hand drive here in New Zealand so location of this unit may be different for LHD. The driver chip in the control unit was burnt out. Sorced a second hand unit for $350 and swapped the driver chip to my unit (a good auto electrician should be able to test and do this for you) to avoid having the dealership rip me for the reprogamming of the unit to the vehicle. Assembled and tested. Fixed! I also replaced the wiring looms directly behind the headlights as these were also breaking down, they are about 200mm long as the insultion was also cracked and failing. replace the wires. start with coil lead. the metal end may not be making a good connection with the wire.The conductor can burn away inside the insultion and leave no exterior burns to see. I would remove the metal end and trim back enough insulation to expose about an inch of the carbon impregnated conductor. Then with the conductor folded backwards along the outside of the wire, refit the metal clip tightly. Ensure that plenty of the conductor is held tightly under the clip, about half an inch. The tight fit is all you need to ensure a good contact. Good Luck! Duck

Let's start with something simple. Have someone turn the key to the "crank" position while you tap the starter with a hammer to see if it engages. You will probably see that it will engage and start. If this becomes the case, replace the starter. If you need instructions, let me know and I can get these to you.

So I will go with poor air flow under the car,which is what you want. You don't want lift. That allows all the engine and drive line heat to transfer into the body. I believe you have that long aluminum drive shaft tube, right under the console, that ties the bellhousing to the rear transaxle. Check to see if some insultion is missing under the body

THE JUMPER CABLES WERE OF A TOO LIGHT OF GUAGE WIRE. THERE SHOULD BE A BATTERY FUSE LOCATED IN THE FUSE BOX IN THE DRIVERS SIDE ENGINE COMPARTMENT.

make sure spark plug is tight,if that is not it pull plug and ground it to see if you have spark,also make sure plug is not fouled,then check ignition coil,that if there are two primary wires make sure there are connected and power is getting to them.if you have just one wire coil is internally ground check for insultion breakdown also make sure your plug wire is good

sounds like an older refrig, we call that "refrigerator cancer", its rusting from the inside out. your inner insultion has become saturated w/ moisture and is just rusting away now, you can try covering witha rustolem might buy you some time only other way is to replace entire door and thats a few hundred dollars
