What is the oil to fuel ratio for a cub cadet trimer/brush cutter?

The exact mix ratio for Cub Cadet trimmers varies, depending upon the exact model. Cub Cadet's ST 228 2-cycle trimmer model uses a mix of 2.6 fluid ounces of 2-cycle oil blended with 1 gallon of unleaded gasoline or a 50-to-1 ratio. This equates to 20 milliliters of 2-cycle oil to 1 liter of gas. The Cub Cadet BC 210, on the other hand, requires a mix ratio of 40 to 1, or 3.2 fluid ounces of 2-cycle engine oil to 1 gallon of unleaded gasoline

Gas to oil mixture

Gas to oil ratio is a function of the oil you are using. Mix according to what the oil says not what the manufacturer of the engine says. Those ratios could/may be the same. IF you mix 16:1 oil (do they even sell that anymore ?) at a 50:1 ratio it will destroy the engine. There will be no problems at 16:1 as the oil recommends.
I have used 100:1 Optimoil (?) when I can find it instead of the recommended 48:1 of my 2cycle. No problems.
Mix the oil in ratio the oil manufacturer says to mix.

Need to make 50:1 ratio mix. what i have on hand is the poulin 3.2 fluid ounce that makes 1 gallon at 40:1. how many ounces of this mix would need to be used to achieve the 50:1 mix ratio.

2 choices here
if you want to use the entire 3.2 oz bottle you need to add it to 1.25 gallons of fuel to = 50:1 ratio

if you have 1 gallon of fuel you need to add 2.6 oz of oil to the fuel to equal 50:1 ratio

hope that helps
