When you disconnect your battery and then reconnect it again, it disables the radio. This is an anti-theft protection for your car radio. The enable your radio the activation code is in your vehicle owner's manual. If you do not have this code you need to go to your Renault service centre and get them to enter this code for you.
It's only necessary if you don't have radio code handy. If you have radio code, then go for it. If not, get memory adapter for anytime you disconnect battery. NOTE: if you don't have radio code, be prepared to go to dealer w/ VIN # to get code.
Hi,
Before pulling out the old battery, you should write down the code of your radio so that when you install the new battery the radio will be asking for the operation code.
Replacing battery for that model should be less than 5 minutes to install new one, otherwise everything will be reset.
Hope that helps you out!

2 solutions
1. use a jumper cables from another vehicle when you take take cables off, install new battery, remove jumpers
2. install battery as normal and drive to dealer to get code after, make a note of code
note: engine will run rough for two or three drive cycles if you lose power to ECU. This is another reason to jumper battery
You can pull the radio and get the codes or call the dealer and get them up to you. You will need your vin # in the window and you will have ti have your name on the registration number before they will give it to you.
