You do not need the remote - you can access the menu manually.

  1. Take out (eject) the tape;
  2. press the 2 Channel buttons ("up" and "down") simultaneously;
  3. follow the menu as easily as you did when you did have the remote and you can change all the clock settings;
  4. press the FF button for >, the REW button for <, the PLAY button for UP and the STOP button for DOWN.
  5. when finished, exit the menu with the simultaneous pressing of the Channel UP & DOWN buttons.

Can't figure out how to adjust VCR tracking

Open the player, use cotton wool and methylated spirit to clean the play head of your tape player and the picture will be clear. It is dirt that is making the picture shaky.

Its not all the time that tracking can solve the problem. So clean the player's play head and all will be well.

Please don't apply too much spirit and make sure you dry it with a dry wool. Also make sure the player is turned off and removed from electricity before you proceed for the cleaning.

This is the help that I can render to you.

Good luck.

I am sorry but I don't think you can do that with a VCR.

I can set a timer on the vcr for recordning but once it is time for it to turn on it doesn't

The VCR needs to be turned off or in Standby mode when the program is scheduled to begin.  Make sure your AM/PM settings and the clock time are correct and that any Daylight Savings Time feature is not causing a time difference from real time.

Setting the clock/time

There should be a menu button on the remote which will get you into the various advanced programming functions. Many/most of the late VCRs cannot be programmed, time set with the buttons on the VCR itself.
