Sharp BC320 Networked Printer

We have a the above mentioned printer in our office.  In the printer preferences, the paper trays are not available to be selected to print from.  We can see them on the printer itself, but not from a computer.  Any help would be appreciated

Idle printer status

If your computer is USB connected make sure that the cable is connected and that the printer is powered up. If you are connected to the printer over your network through wifi or ethernet, make sure that each device (computer and printer) is connected.
If all of these are in order and the printer still shows offline, try re-installing the software that came with the printer. Sometimes the software needs to be re-installed due to corrupted files.

How resolve cannot "Connect to Network Printer" with Windows Vista

One of the more interesting errors in Windows Vista happens when you try to connect to a shared network printer. Most of the time you'll receive an "Access is Denied" error when trying to connect even though you can see the printer on the network and everything else is working properly.
Everything else on the network appears to work properly, shared files, internet access, etc. However, you just cannot access the ahared printer and print.
The solution is to add the printer as a local printer and then try printing. Follow the directions below to accomplish this.

1. Go into Control Panel 2. Underneath the Hardware and Sound category, click on Printer 3. Click on Add a printer from the top menu 4. Click on Add a Local Printer 5. Choose Create a New Port with type of port remaining Local Port, then click Next 6. In the Port Name box type the path to the printer you wish to connect to and Click Ok
Ex. \\mycomputer\myprinter
If the computer you wish to connect to is named Bob and the printer is called HP then the path would be \\Bob\HP
7. In the Install Printer Driver screen, select your printer from the list or choose Have Disk and find the location of the printer drivers on the computer then click Next and then click Finish. 8. You should now see the printer installed in the Printers window. 9. Right-click on the printer and click Properties 10. On the General tab, click Print Test Page to test the printer.
You should now be able to printer from Windows Vista to this networked printer without any problems.

I have a hp officejet v40xi printer. It doesnt have a print button. How do I make it print a docoment from my computer?

To print a document, make sure you have installed the drivers for your printer and have plugged in the USB cable for it, also make sure it's turned out and there's paper in the tray. Now open up your document in Word/Notepad/Whatever it opens it in, then go to File->Print (alternatively you could press CTRL+P simultaneously). Check all the settings including number of copies then press Print.

Have fun :)

Drivers for HP C3277A Infrared Adapter

There isn't a driver for this device. You connect it to your printer and power up. The Laptop you're printing from must have infra red and will pick up your printer's IR attachment. The last time I used my dj340 on IR was with my windows 98 thinkpad. I'll see if I can get it working with my newish HP laptop which runs XP.

Create a local area network

you can get a HP x175 printserver. (not expensive.) and connected it between the printer and the router. that way you don't have to have the desktop on all the time.

How do i build a local area network in windows xp?

On the machine that the printer is connected to go to Start>Control Panel>Printer and Faxes>Right click the Printer that you want to Network and Left Click Sharing> Select the Option to Share the printer and Name it something that you wil remeber. On the Laptop go to printers and Faxes select add new printer and select Network Printer. And Choose the second option Put the Name of the Computer that the printer is connected to and then printer name. Example \\Desktop\HpPhotoSmart 8100. Also you will need to check to make sure that both machines are on the same Domain\Work Group. Go to Start>Control Panel >System>Computer Name Tab ( Here verify the Machines Name)> Join or Change Domain>Put the machines on the same Workgroup if they are not, Do the same on the laptop. To test this, on the laptop go to Start>run and type \\Desktop Name and you should see what is able to be shared. Walk thru the steps above to install the printer on the laptop and have the intall cd in the laptop to install the drivers and you should be good to go. I hope this is understandable. If not feel free to email me at and I will see if I can clarify this for you. Happy networking!

Initialization failed - Unable to acquire TWAIN-compliant device

I have seen your message stating that "Initialization failed - Unable to acquire TWAIN-compliant device" error is received when trying to connect USB-Parallel type to your Laptop.

Well,  Printer  Panasonic UF4100, recommends to use only " Printer/Scanner Interface as Bi-directional Parallel (IEEE1284) " means you need to use Parallel cable to connect Printer to the Computer/Notebook.  You may receive some communication error messages if you are using a  "PORT REPLICATOR CABLE"( USB TO PARALLEL connector).  The error message that you have received is related to the communication error. Futher, if you use same USB- Parallel cable for long time the Printer Hardware functionality might go bad, since Printer memory gets confused and will not read or detect the Cable , since it is not a cable to use  mentioned by Panasonic Manufacturer.

Let me tell you, general functionality of Printer like Printing would work even if you use USB-Parallel cable. But it is not a case with Scanner and Fax functionality.

Hence, I recommend you to use only Parallel cable to connect your Printer to the Laptops.

I hope that this will resolve the issue for you.

You can email me at if you need further assistance.
