Question about Gateway MX6421 Notebook

Notebook will not boot

The notebook will not boot.  I tried the recovery
disk but when attempting to boot from that, some files cannot be found
and the install hangs at 57% completed. When I try to format the drive,
the recovery partition cannot be created.
I can run a restore "R" or a format "F".  I first
tried just a restore and the process hung half way through.  I then
tried to format and the initial partition could not be created.
Trying to reformat from the recovery disc, it ran for about 1 hour then
couldn't find files on the cd, and the following error occurred:

Start error message:

I don't have the option when I start the computer to "Boot to Command

recovery" then the message "NTLDR is missing" "Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to

I replaced the disk drive with a new one and the same thing happens.

Thanks for any assistance you can give me.

Re: Notebook will not boot

If I understand what your problem is...
I had the same problem, it was a caused by bad Windows XP install CD.
Call Gateway and explain the situation, you may need to have a magnifying glass handy to read the tiny engraved lettering in the center of the CD disk.
Have your 'Product Key' available.
If you have some kind of sales receipt, or other "Proof of Purchase" have it handy too.
You will need to tell them, you do not have the program installed on other computers.
They can send you another disk.
This method will only work if you have a legal copy of the program.

Hi... i have a Advent 4211C Notebook, today when i switched on my notebook is giving an error..... File : \boot\BCD status : 0x000000f info : an error occurred while attempting to read...

I suggest try to remove the HDD or the storage device on your laptop and take it to any computer local center and have them back up your data thats the safest way for not losing your data because if you try to fix it and you accidentally reformat the HDD or storage device you'll lose all your data. The HDD is located at the bottom of the laptop, try to remove all of the cover. It looks like on the picture.

When i was partitioning my hard disk ,my battery has finished then when i have turn on my note book ,the machin wants the recovery disk but i had not this disk would you please help me ,thanks, ali

you will need the rescue disc that you should have created BEFORE you attempted to partition also partitioning a hard drive whilst on battery power alone was a very foolish thing to do. install the partition software you used on another pc and create a recovery disc with it. Then put that into the laptop and boot from it, hopefully it will attempt to recover the lost partitions, but dont be too hopeful of it actually doing it

My m250 netbook won't boot up syas missing boot file

Dear Friend
Many times this error is caused when the computer is attempting to boot from a non-bootable floppy disk or CD-ROM. First verify that no floppy diskette or CD is in the computer, unless you are attempting to boot from a diskette.
If not then it seems that your windows boot file got corrupted. all you have to do is try using your notebooks recovery CD if you dont have a recovery CD then you have to use the windows installer CD
1 Insert the Windows XP bootable CD into the computer.
2 When prompted to press any key to boot from the CD, press any key.
3 Once in the Windows XP setup menu press the "R" key to repair Windows.
4 Log into your Windows installation by pressing the "1" key and pressing enter.
5 You will then be prompted for your administrator password, enter that password.
6 Copy the below two files to the root directory of the primary hard disk. In the below example we are copying these files from the CD-ROM drive letter, which in this case is "e." This letter may be different on your computer.
copy e:\i386\ntldr c:\
copy e:\i386\ c:\

7 Once both of these files have been successfully copied, remove the CD from the computer and reboot.

Hi! My IBM R52 Notebook has gotten pretty slow. What shall do to get it quicker again and how can I formate the notebook! thanks for your valuabl advise in advance, rp

Try cleaning up your unused programs and files using disk cleanup and defragment your drive using disk defragmenter.
To formaer your drive and reinstall the OS, run the computers recovery wizard, or insert the recovery disk that came with your computer.
If you do not ahve a recovery disk or recovery program, use a windows installation disk like windows vista, windows XP DVD to format and reinstall the OS.
Make sure to backup the stuff you want before attempting this!

Can't extract files on System Recovery Disc 4 for Compaq Presario model 6350US

At this point, you can try to clean your disk # 4 and see what happen,
or try to make a copy of disk # 4 (if you can copy the disk) and try again.

1) Contact your customer support and ask for a new set of disks.(or only # 4)

2) Boot your computer with another OS disk (win XP)

3) Boot your computer with some utility disk
