Land rover discovery series 2 How do i plug in to the wirinng harnes from a after market stereo to the factory harnest from land rover i cant get sound from the speakers

it is a possibility that it can't be done that way, after market radios usually have to be wired into the wiring harness they don't just plug in for the simple reason vehicle manufacturers want you to use their radios & equipment NOT after market radios etc , you may have to get a auto radio installer to fit it for you otherwise if you don't know what you are doing it could be more costly in the long run......hope this helps......cheers.

No, make sure the vehicle key is in the aux or on position. If this still doesn't work, recheck the wiring. Also, make sure you have a good ground.

Hello Colin. You describe a radio which doesn't sound like any Hyundai Radio I've ever worked on. It seems to me the audio unit is 'after-market' and isn't supported by Hyundai Motor America or Hyundai Service Departments. Does it have a "Hyundai Emblem" on it? If it does, you can check with any Hyundai Service/Parts Department & have them check the serial no.

Car stereo doesnt work when its hot outside. Sometimes the lights are on, sometimes not

Interesting. I've never met a temperature tempermental radio before. But before we decide that the radio has taken decision making skills that it will NOT work in heat, let's look at the wiring.

I would look at the constant and switched power connections on the unit. This may explain the lights problem. If the unit is aftermarket, did you install it using a wiring harness or is it hard wired. The reason I ask is if it was hardwired, maybe a wrong wire was connected. When it's hot outside, you usually run your air, right? Maybe there is a circuit problem there. Just a thought. Hope this helps.

My am radio doesnt work , but my fm does and my sirius does, whats wrong

Hi,

May be your car has an in-glass radio antenna. Because these don't perform as well as mast antennas, there's an antenna amplifier built into the vehicle.

When installing a new head unit, it's necessary to connect the "power antenna" wire in the radio harness. This activates the antenna amplifier. If you leave this disconnected, the result is the problem you're describing.

Since the vehicle doesn't have an actual motorized antenna, many installers overlook the power antenna connection in the harness. Also, after-market adapter harnesses use a blue wire for this function, and your Radio head unit has only a blue/white output.

The answer, then, is to check the back of the radio, and make sure the blue/white wire from the Radio deck is connected to the blue wire in the adapter harness.

How do I connect a line output converter to my factory head unit

depending on the type of line out converter that you have you simply just take the speaker wires coming from the head unit (you must know the color codes for the wires or you can do the process of elimination by pulling off the door panels and and viewing the colors and matching them at the wire harness behind the head unit). Pull out electric fuse for radio so you dont blow it while hooking up the wires. After you have done that just connect the speaker wires coming out of the head unit to the line out converter this will pre-amp your signal. After you have done that step on the other side of the loc you will have to connect and run rca audio cables to the back of your car to hook into your amplifier. The last step is to splice the power and ground wire coming from the wire harness and connect the radio power wire and loc power wire to the main power wire and then connect the radio ground wire and the loc ground wire to the main ground wire. Test and your done with the loc.
