Call the service co. who replaced compressor . they ether got a defective one or never replaced yours . (compressor is a motor and a pump sealed in a metal can suspended in oil on springs ) apparently yours has a broken one or more springs .allowing electrical field windings of the motor to come in contact with the case shorting out your breaker. solution new compressor!

SOURCE: breaker keeps tripping

If the breaker itself is more than 15 years old, replace it. If it continues to switch off, check the amp draw of both the inside and outside unit.

SOURCE: air conditioner keeps tripping breaker

Every air conditioner has a motor called a compressor. The compressor provides the cooling capacity for the air conditioner. If the compressor or its electrical controls are defective the compressor may try to start, fail, and create an electrical overload. If the unit does create an overload, every compressor circuit is also equipped with an overload safety switch. The safety switch is designed to protect the compressor from burning out. The safety switch will cut the power to the compressor for a certain length of time and then reset itself. When it resets it will allow the electricity to flow to the compressor once again. If the compressor then starts, the unit should function normally. If the compressor doesn't start when the overload resets, the overload will again cut the electricity to the compressor. This cycle will continue indefinitely. (Always allow three to five minutes before restarting the compressor.) If this situation is occurring, unplug the air conditioner and get help from a qualified repair technician. This problem is often fatal to the air conditioner because the cost of repair often exceeds the price of a new air conditioner.

if this helps please vote me a fix ya

SOURCE: a/c is drawing 20 amps and keeps tripping breaker after running

If the fan is running and the compressor is getting hot and tripping off you may have a failed capacitor.

SOURCE: Air conditioner shuts off and trips breaker on power cord

It sounds like a short or ground in the compressor. If you have an ohmmeter, unplug the unit and use the meter to check the wires to the compressor. Connect 1 meter lead to the compressor case then to the wires coming from the compressor 1 at a time. If none are grounded then connect 1 meter lead to the Com. Then connect the other lead first to the run wire, then to the start wire reading the resistance each time. neither should be less than 1. You can also check the condenser fan.

Circuit breaker keeps tripping when the compressor comes on

Compressor is likely shorted to ground. Turn breaker off, take the fan off and unplug the compressor. Put the fan back on and turn power back on with a call for cool. If fan runs and breaker holds the compressor is bad.

Hi I have a Centrex split wall mounted air con heat and cool its over ten years old .when I turn it on it keeps tripping the switch on the power board what could be the problem and is it worth fixing

one of two things is going on.
The unit needs servicing as it is drawing too much power.
2. The breaker is just worn out after years of supplying alot of power.
If it was me I'd get a new breaker for starts. Would not be fun to have the unit serviced or get a new one and find the breaker still trips. They are not that expensive.
hope this helps you a little.

We have a cold tech freezer It was not keeping temp So a new compressor put on and compositor It's making a horrible knocking sounds and then trips the circuit What could be wrong with it Also we had a new...

Please run it as little as possible, sometimes new compressors are defective too, get it checked or replaced if under warranty, knocking sound is a sign that the compressors piston is seizing and crank rod making noise, gas filling should be very precise as well

Believe the compressor to be shot, is it cost effective to fix?

Unless it's a fairly new real high end unit, it's probably not cost effective to replace a compressor.

I have a raka-037jaz air cond. I was wondering what size is this unit? And if my breaker keeps tripping for the outside condenser does that mean my compressor is workIng too hard and needs to be replaced?...

Hello You have a 3 ton unit with a 10 SEER rating.this unit should NEVER be on a 50 amp breaker. The breaker size is on the model plate/sticker....any way the compressor is shot and it is time to find a new 3 ton condensing unit.espescially if it is TRIPPING a 50 amp.Good luck

Need a point setting for ao smith air compressor ac motor model number opa-0297 s# c56b72b2316508j2 work on air machine with motor installed motor will hum and trip breaker can we set points to stop trip...

try running up this motor when its not installed on the compressor,, if it still blows the trips the motor is faulty,, if it runs ok, but hums when reconted to the compressor the compressor if far to tight for the motor to turn the compressor,,,you can not reset the points in a breaker trip they trip at a set curent if the motor is pulling more amps than the trip is set for it will trip the trip to turn off the curent, the motor will pull far more amps than it should if its over loaded thats why its humming its trying to spin up it but cant so it just keeps pulling more and more amps till the trip cuts out

I have a payne 04 3 ton heat pump it flips the breaker when you turn it on but does not blow the inline fuse.the blower motor and electric heat strip comes on and works .troubleshoot

grounded or shorted compressor. remove power. remove compressor leads and tape off . does breaker stop tripping? if it stays set on, then compressor is gounded or shorted. if it still trips then wiring or condensor fan is shorted or grounded, remove wires there and test same way . the item you disconnect that keeps breaker from tripping is your shorted or grounded item. usually the compressor. time for all new 410 a equipment. r22 is obsolete and out of production next year and equipment, and oils ,and gases dont mix at all. it must be all or nothing. don't invest a big cash repair in something unusable in a few years. good luck.

House has old wiring, going to be knocked down in 2yrs,1 part of lighting circirt keeps blowing fuse and knocking the trip off, every time I put trip on,in 20seconds it goes of again?

This would sound like an overload on the circuit. If it were a direct short the breaker would trip immediately. As an example if you had two units such as a refrigerator and a freezer on the circuit in question, both motors starting at the same time could draw enough current to trip the breaker on start up.

Fridge/freezer trips my circuit breaker

This sounds like a grounded wire in your defrost system. Start by finding the defrost timer and checking the wires. One may have been pulled loose or pinched while it was being moved.
