The optical mouse stopped working. Even when I reboot, the "built in" (automatically connected) mouse won't work. I can plug in another mouse and it works, but not the one that goes with the computer.
Sounds like a driver issue. try to update the driver for it. if it says you're using the most up to date version, then uninstall the driver, visit the manufacturer's website, download the driver, and reinstall it. If that doesn't work, then the hardware itself may be busted.

Hello ania1997, I've seen this 'problem' before. First, disconnect the "Mouse." Next, click on the "Start Button." Now, click on the "Control Panel," in the 'start menu'. Scroll in the Control Panel, and select the "Mouse" applet! Open the [Mouse Properties], by 2x clicking or, Right clicking, and open. From here you want to [Disable the Touchpad Device]. !Beware, that now, you may have to "Manually Navigate." Without the 'mouse; you will use the "Tab, Arrows, and 'Enter' buttons, to perform tasks, if the 'optical mouse' doesn't work the first time. "Restart the computer." Connect the "Optical Mouse." "The {Mouse should be detected automatically}." If you need help with anything else? "Write a 'comment'; I'll be here to assist you!" "Best Regards"
Is it not working at all or is it moving erratically across the screen? If it doesn't seem to be working at all, turn off your mouse then unplug the receiver's USB cable from the laptop for about 5-10 seconds then plug it in to another USB port. It may detect a new device, just let it do the automatic installation if it asks. You should here a 'tada' or ding sound when it is plugged in. When installation is completed or about 10 seconds after you hear the sound, turn your mouse back on.
If it still doesn't work, try shutting down your laptop completely instead of just rebooting it.
If it still doesn't work after that, make sure you have a spare USB mouse available then uninstall the software for your wireless mouse or mouse/keyboard combo then reinstall it.
Remove the battery of the mouse and install new one and then press connect button from the mouse side and the receiver side also. Have a nice day and do not forget to rate please...!
I would have suggested opening up your old mouse and cleaning the right click button first.
Generally, wireless devices have a connect button that finds the frequencies of the devices. On the receiver press this button, then press the button on the bottom of your new mouse. the receivers lights will stop flashing once connected.

Then if the Keyboard isn't working, press the small RESET/CONNECT
button on the back of the board to connect the keyboard to the
receiver. Hope this helps. Bud
