DEFROST TIMER FOR NATIONAL REFRIGERATOR NR-302 TE-G

I have a National refrigerator Model:NR-302 TE-G.
It has recently begun to defrost when not required.
I open the freezer door to find that ice trays are melting away.

Once I change the position of the The defrost timer switch (switch located on the back right hand side) by one or two cliks manually by a screwdriver to a new position, it begins to work again but only for a couple of days, and the problem recurs again.

Could you please advise a solution?

Remove power and defrost. Check heater element behind panels in back of freezer. With ohm meter should read 20 ohms or less. You could remove it and bring it to a local repair shop and have them test it and if required order you a new one. If this does not work it may be the control board

The refrigerator is national "nr-302

NOTE: This
is a multi-solution answer since I don't have all the tech from your question to pinpoint your problem
But the solution is in here generically, if you read and study the solutions very, very carefully.
First I would check cold control. Thats where you turn it off, if your temp is not warm. it can
be defective and not shutting off. If your temp is warm proceed with the following.
I would check the fan in the freezer. Listen to see if it is running
It moves air to the ref from the freezer
Then check to see if FREEZER CONTROL is turned WARMER WHICH MAKES THE REF COLDER AND VICE-VERSA. SEE?
The ref. temp should be about 33-35
The Freezer temp should be 0 to 10 Any thing below these temps is overkill and a waste of elect
The higher the number you turn it up to is the coldest
But is probably a common defrost problem The ice build up
is not being melted by the defrost system. The fan can't blow through the coils into the fridge.
Take out back panel of freezer to check for ice buildup. The coils should be clean.
There are three components to a defrost system- a heater, heater thermostat, and a timer unless you have a defrost electronic card.
Its best handled by a Technician but you could possibly do it by taking your model number to the nearest appliance parts store and asking for the parts. They are mostly located in freezer ,behind back panel on freezer coils.except the card which is usually located in ref The parts store will have info
Also check fan undernearh Ref in the rear
Clean condenser coils underneath
Make sure back cover is on the fridge. Some take them off and throw them away.
make one out of cardboard if its gone, using the holes of the old one.

RUN WATER IN TUBE TO ELININATE BLOCKAGE AND CHECK

I have a Kenmore model#363.50242000.Its a side by side, every couple of weeks, the back wall on the freezer side gets a coat of ice and the temp start to increase. I have to manually defrost it overnite to...

Hang in there I just may have the solution. There are 3 major components of your defrost system. Behind that rear wall is your defrost heater and defrost heater part=> WR51X10031
Te most likely problem is the defrost timer=> WR9X489_defrost_control and here is where heater and defrost thermostat are located=> 363.50242000 Freezer Section First you need to look inside your fresh food compartment and Click Here=> Control Panel just behind that panel is a defrost timer see if we can force defrost by using a flathead screwdriver slowly clockwise until the compressor and fans stops then after about a minute defrost will begin and after 25 minutes the timer should turn the refrigerator and fans back on. If not replace timer if yes the come on and still no defrost the we need to go into the freezer and replace the defrost heater and defrost thermostat, please rate this solution, Thanks, Sea Breeze

The refrigerator side has stopped cooling.

, you might have a defrost problem. Frost free models have a heating element that is controlled by a timer to automatically defrost ice, defrost timer turns on defrost heating element every 12 hours to melt ice in freezer and allow good air flow.
You can test defrost element with an ohm meter(located inside freezer coils-will have two wires going to a plug connection), if OK replace defrost timer (located in various places depending on make and model

Freezer at 32 degrees, fan running ,fridge cool

The evaporator coils behind the rear cover inside the freezer are probably iced over because of defrost system failure. Defrost system consists of defrost heater, defrost thermostat and defrost timer(or motherboard in newer models.)

Amana atb2132arw fridge not cold

I need you to go into the fresh food compartment and search for a small opening that leads to a defrost timer. Put a small flathead screwdriver through the hole and turn clockwise slowly. This should cause the compressor to stop running and the defrost elements to come on inside the freezer behind the back panel. You will possibly hear some noise of crackling and water sizzling, but that indicates that the defrost has be begun. Wait about 20 minutes the refrigerator should restart on its own and every 8 hours do the same process. I want you to go to my site below and enter model number ATB2132AR into the model search feature. When you get to the correct page, there are four just like you, click on the 2nd photo on left of screen. That is controls. In the photo 32 is the defrost timer. Part number 63001580 that is the main concern now. Get back with me on the results of your turning the timer and wait for restart, Thanks, Sea Breeze appliancepartsse@yahoo.com SITE-> http://servicepartstec.blogspot.com/ SITE2-> http://appliancepartsandtechnicalservices.blogspot.com/
