Re: Help Needed Plz
Double clic the volume icon from the task bar ( tray ) and when the device volumes pop up ...go to propieties and choose from there the proper plugs and slots ...verify that the volumes to be up and not muted...and try again ... from the sound manager you have to choose to prompt you on plug in ...and then you will have the proper plugs for what ever you use... this last issue I mentionated is a check case that you have to click in order to prompt you for choise each time you plug in or out a audio device..

put it in your CD ROM then press F10 to get into bios and under
advanced boot priority change your first option to CD and restart ,it
will ask to boot from CD,press enter You will setup process of windows xp,it will ask you where you want to install windows xp,choose drive where windows vista is installed (c:) ,then first choose the option of format this drive using NTFS,it will format your windows vista and will start installing windows xp and in an hour's time it will be done
There are case where BIOS stting doesn't contain any point of configuration for SATA.,
Step 1 : Download SATA driver
Here is the link : http://downloadcenter.intel.com/confirm.aspx?httpDown=http://downloadmirror.intel.com/12474/eng/iata621_enu.exe&agr=N&ProductID=2101&DwnldId=12474&strOSs=All&OSFullName=All%20Operating%20Systems&lang=eng
Step 2 : Download a software called "nlite"
Here is the link : http://home.midmaine.com/~nlite/nlite/nLite-184.108.40.206.installer.exe
Now you need to include SATA driver with Windows XP cd so that windows XP recognize your HARD DRIVE.it can't be include diectly so
Installed the nlite software and follow the instruction by going to the link below.
Note : Microsoft dotnet framework 2.0 or later is needed to install nlite in Windows XP,but if you are making a bootable Windows XP cd with sata driver pre-install then, you don't need it.
Hi Vostro owner.Dont worry, this can be sorted.Sound issue is not because u installed windows from a Non-dell cd.But i would ask to call up dell because they will provide u the XP disc that should have come with the system or even it is lost from you. Also then we can download the driver from support site : www.support.dell.com and install it.It is just a mere coincidence now.But the reason i'm asking to get cd from Dell is so that u can avoid any future problems with installing XP from a non-dell cd
You cannot install Windows XP over WIndows Vista. Microsoft has put a lock on the Vista software and will not allow you to downgrade to a lower software. The only way you can do it is to wipe your hard drive completely clean first with a disk deleting software or with the command "fdisk" at the DOS prompt. However, this is dangerous and I do not recommend it unless you have someone professionally trained to do it. It will wipe everything off of your disk and then you can load Windows XP.
