You will need to have the laptop taken apart to be sure. Most manufacturers wrap the wireless antenna around the monitor. The only way to be sure is to find someone who has worked your model, or follow the the antenna from the wireless card inside your notebook

How do i speed up my wifi performance

1. Keep your wifi router in proper place:

The position of the router in your home matters a great deal. If you have the router placed in far corners of your home(Just because routers are ugly), chances are, you get spotty (or no) signal on the other end of the house.
The ideal location of a router is as close to the center of your home as possible, in an open area, away from other electronics, with maximized visibility. The more walls, doors, and other obstructions near your router, the higher the chance of something interfering with your signal.
It's also better to keep the router higher. Routers tend to spread signal downward, so if it's resting low or on the floor, you're not maximizing your coverage.

2. Reposition the antennas:

speed-up-wifi-performance-ekycgghenael2qsj0smxwl1l-1-2.jpg Routers come with one of two types of antennas, internal or external. If your router has two external antennas, try positioning them perpendicular to one another - one pointing vertically and the other positioned horizontally.
Reception between the router and your device is maximized when the receiver and transmitter are operating along the same plane, explains Alf Watt, a former Apple Wi-Fi engineer. Some devices have vertical antennas, others have horizontal. Having two antennas positioned perpendicularly ensures that the wireless reception is maximized.
If your router has only one antenna or an internal antenna, it will take some trial and error. Try either positioning the antenna (or the entire router) vertically and horizontally to see if one way works better than the other.

HG8245A VS HG8245: The same Wifi Signal Strength?

Probably not...... With an External Antenna, there is nothing to stop the signal, whereas with the Internal, the Signal has to penetrate the case, before it goes to wherever...... I suggest using the External for the extra distance.... With 2 way radio the clearer the area yo have the Antenna, the greater the distance.... same here.... just using different Frequencies.

Not working

Some laptops may have a direct input for the Wifi antenna......you have to check with the manufacturer of the laptop if you dont see an input jack for an antenna. Usually those antennas are built into the laptop internally.

Iphone Wifi Doesn't Work

Check the internal antenna for connection to the circuit board, alot of times these will fracture due to being dropped or bumped around, if the antenna has become unattached to the board very carefully re-solder the connection.

Sounds like you have lost your internal IP address assignments.. I would suggest unplugging the power from your router for two min and shutdown your computers. Plug your router back in and let it cycle completely up before restarting your computer. This should restore your internal IP lease.

No antenna cables on toshiba satellite 1405 s151

Some models that come with a wifi card already in them have an antenna. Since you purchased your card after the laptop it does not have an internal antenna. You can purchase the internal antenna but this will require you to take apart your screen.

You could purchase a PCMCIA or USB wifi adapter and use an antenna with those devices without taking apart your laptop.

Hope this helps.

Installing the wifi antennae wires

You just have to route it through the case covering as much area as possible, as spaced out as possible. Also, the reason PCMCIA cards don't get very good signals is simply because they don't have enough space to have a properly sized antenna.

Wifi (laptop)

built in wifi cards are very limited in range, get an external pc card
then you can get an antenna to connect to that if needed.
I use both and find the external card is best in reception.
you can connect an antenna to the internal card but you will have to leave the access panel open or make a hole in it.
