Question about Rival 3040-VG 4-Quart

1 Answer

3040 VG I purchased this unit a couple months ago and have tried to use it a number of times. On Hi the unit will not heat a cup of water too hot to stick your finger in. I put my meal in it several times and 5-6 hours later noting had happened. Sent an email about a month ago and they will not send a reply. I think I got a dud and just want a refund. Will never buy a Rival product again.

Outside of crockpot gets very hot and countertop is extremely hot after cooking for a couple of hours

This sounds normal. put the unit on something to protect counter. It is very difficult to heat long term, without the unit becoming quite hot.

My ceramic pot is stuck in the container and I can't get it out, this happened the second time I used it, have only had for 3 months, any suggestions on how to get it unstuck?

Try to remove it when it is hot, make sure you use oven mits, if that does not work try to have someone the bottom handle while you pull the ceramic handles. When you get it out look for rough spot on the ceraamic pot.

Call the manufaturer and see if they will send you another one, they may ask for proof of purchase which will be on the box, if you do not have the box it may be on the instruction manual.

Cooks too hot/fast

Hi Wendigo,

Crock pots are not exact, they only have a "target" minimum temperature (to be sure they kill bacteria). It's possible you just have a relatively strong heating element.

Also, remember that the boiling point of liquids changes considerably with your altitude, so if you're in a mountainous region you may be seeing "boiling" at a lower temperature than you expect.
