Ricoh Aficio CL4000DN printer software installed, box stated it was installed properly. I ran software update also. Printer is recognized as a printer choice, but when selected to print, box opens stating printer drivers installed incorrectly.

Go to www.epson.com and download the current driver for the printer and install, then try again. It should clear up the problem. You will probably have to re-select the printer in the dialog of Epson Printer Utility, and while you're at it, make it the "default" printer. Good luck.

Hi, Sorry you are having problems,
Ok, well, that sounds to me like you have a new version of Adobe Acrobat. And, well, the new version of Acrobat works with more and more options and bigger and more complex documents.... And.... well, your G3 and the Ricoh printer just can't handle these files.
So, what is the solution other than buying a new computer and a new printer, which would certainly solve your problem, ?
What I recommend is print pdf files as images, you will find this option in the print dialogue box, unfortunately, i don't have access to a Mac OS 9 machine to take snapshots to show you, but, if you snoop around the print dialogue options, I'm sure you'll find ( Print as Image ) and that feature really reduces the weight of the image you are sending to the printer.

From System Preferences / Printers, delete the printer completely.
If you have the driver installer for the driver you are using, re-launch it and choose the "uninstall" option. If not, you will have to rip out a lot of code by hand -- you will have to search HP's website for the page on how to manually remove traces of old Mac HP drivers.
Download the latest driver for your printer from the HP website. Install if carefully.
After rebooting, go to System Preferences / Printers and re-define the printer. Make sure you use the HP driver, not any of the generic drivers.
This ought to clear the problem.

So clearly the Macintosh sees and recognizes the printer. WIll it let you queue a document to the printer? After you do, you will see an extra icon on the Dock that represents the printer queue. Open it up and see what is happening to the printer job. If it disappears, it was sent to the printer and the Mac thinks it was printer successfully; if it isn't printed then you have either a bad printer or a bad printer driver. If it stays in the queue and goes to "hold" state, look in the log to see what the error was -- the Mac is unable to negotiate with the printer to get your file printed.
