Question about Philips DVP-3005 DVD Player

DVD will not play any type of disk

Hi hope you can help me. I have had my dvd player since December 2005, and it has worked fine up until last week.
I made a Cd-rw of photographs from my computer and watched the slide show using the dvd, and they played ok.
Since then, when I put any type of disc in the player, the drawer closes, says "loading" then "no disc".
I have checked to make sure that it is still the correct region (2)
Hope you can help.
Thank you,
Keith Brindley

Hi I am Julio, Tijuana, Mexico B.C Sun Feb.17th, 2008

I also have the same problem as Kathleen. My dvd all of a sudden won't play my movies it keeps reading "no disc". I bought mine back in May of 2007 or so. Its now Feb,17th 2008. I tried the user manual, changed the batteries on my remote, uplugged the device, reconnect everything again, and nothing. What's frustrating is that it was playing the day before, and then it just started messing up with the "no disc" thing. I guess i may have to pay a visit to the technician, it could be just like you say that my lens is dirty or worn out.. **But is there a simple way to unscrew the top and fix it my self? Or you don't recommend this?

i played a cd-r with some movies, the player stucked and i was even unable to eject the cd. it just wont react to any command from remote or control panel.

is there any chance to reset it to factory default, to flash the memory..... by opening the case and create a short circuit somewhere or pressing a hidden button inside the case?

Hi! This might be kind of too late for Kath'n'Keith's problem but I just found myself in the same situation and tried something that helped - at least in my case. The problem was that the laser wasn't working at all (=no red light visible). After a lot of different things i finally tried to caress the cable that goes into the slide with the laser optical thing. And then it just worked again. So in the end it turned out to be a loose connection at that very point, where the flexibile flat cable goes into the laser slide. Hope this is helpful to someone, even with this "old" device. It happens when the lens of the player goes bad you need to check for the lenses or it might have to be reaplced . Furthermore if motor of the player goes bad or ssomething happens to the speed of the motor the lens reading is affected and the error message for no disk i dispalyed so you need to check for the lens or the motor the rest is all about technician. I hope it do provoides you some info to your querry.

The go video DV2130 will not read a dvd. It loads, but will not play. Can this be fixed? No longer under warranty

  1. Make sure you have a non home made DVD. Some DVD players will not play DVD'S in certain formats.
  2. If you have a normal DVD in the DVD player and are getting "NO Disk" then there is a real good possibility the lens is just so dirty that it is not recognizing your DVD at all. This happens a lot to all disk players that are neglected from the cleaning process. Get a disk player cleaner and run it through a few times until the disk is read again. Sometimes the lens is so dirty you have to try a few times just to get the cleaner disk itself to play just to do the actual cleaning. Make sure to run that cleaner disk through once a week. These disk cleaners "sweep" the lens and work well. You can get one at your local Best Buy for $8usd.
  3. The last thing it could be is that somehow the lens has come out of alignment. Just a millimeter out of alignment is all it takes to not be able to read a disk and DVD players get bumped and knocked off the shelf easy. So this can happen often especially with the more smaller travel DVD player.

  • Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa.

DVDs on my Sony SLV-D350P DVD/VHS player play in black and white

First try a good quality dvd cleaner. If that does not cure the problem then the video cable may have went bad. I had a system that the cables were never touched & after a few years it needed replaced in order to get my picture back. Hope this helps & please take a moment to rate my answer. Thanks.

DVD plays as a split screen on my television

On the Insignia remote control:

- press power on
- Open disk tray
- click set up button
- click the arrow button pointing left
- press enter
- click the arrow button pointing up
- press enter
- press enter again

I got this off of a website yesterday evening and figured I'd give it a try. Well, it worked. The screen went back to it's original state and the PSAN error (in the middle of the screen) disappeared.

Insignia DVD/Cassette combo player

I imagine you have checked the disk for scratches top and bottom, if so you can purchase a cd/dvd lens cleaner cdrom as the laser may need realigning and cleaning.
