Blowing our brown flakes.

Just moved into a new house, and the unit is bowling brown flakes out of it. Is it mold? The filter seems clean. What do I do?

You wouldn't see the mold, but you can smell it. Probably paint chips

Black flakes coming out

Likely the liner of the duct. Possibly a poor seem that is peeling up, possibly a rodent has gotten inside and chewed up some of the pieces. Either way, yes, more money. Possibly needs a duct cleaning, maybe some new duct, tough one. Best Wishes!!

The water from my new whirlpool has particles floating in it. I've already bled 2 bucketfuls of water.

What are the particles? Do you have a filter installed on the line to the fridge?

Take the line off going to the fridge (turn it off, should be valve nearby). Put end of line in a very clean bucket or gallon glass jug. Fill it. Any particles? Yes, the fridge water system is dirty. No, your house water system is dirty.

If it's your house, install a whole house water filter. If it's your fridge, call the store or the manufactureer and discuss it with them on what they are going to do to rectify it. Just make sure it's not your house system first!

Black particles coming out of the room air conditioner

dirt, dust, or mold. could also be the tubing insulation flaking off. either way, open it up and clean it out. the dirt, dust, and flaking insulation can restrict air flow through the coils and cause the ac to not function properly. if it is mold, it's can cause sickness (legionaire's disease). do not use chemicals on the coils. it might be best to replace the ac alltogether. to prevent mold: when installing the ac, make sure the unit is slightly tipped towards the outside. any condensation that collects on the coils will drain out. failure to do so will result in water pooling inside, and this can cause mold.

My window a/c is spewing little black flakes all over my white couch! Filter is clean. It's an older model Sharp Comfort Touch - very quiet, cools great!

These flakes are from the blower wheel it gets mold and dirt and as it turn and gets moist it blows the out. Clean blower wheel wiht long soft brush and run unit put towel over open while running in fan only this will catch the extra dirt till clean Russs

Mower has to be chocked to run

Oftentimes, this problem is the result of mowers left outside in ambient air that is high humidity. This, in turn, allows algae to grow inside the carb fuel float bowl and/or inside the fuel tank if left out for extended periods (one month or longer). Also the same thing will cause air filters to clog rapidly with mold and mildew - slowly at first, then more rapidly as the mold continues to grow. Get out the carb cleaner in spray cans and go through every ported passagewway in the carb body then reassemble using CLEAN screws, gaskets and all interrior parts. Any residue mold or mildew will continue to grow - and it can grow in gasoline!! Imagine that!!

White 'dandruff like' flakes blowing from front & back of air con

this stuff is mold and mildew that builds up in the blower and evaporator section of your unit the unit needs to be cleaned out i'm not familar with this particular brand so I cant tell you how to pull it apart but since it is a split system this means the freon lines will most likely have to be pulled loose. you may try removing the covers and vacuming the unit as well as you can and possibly blowing it out with compressed air. aside from that I would recomend alling a qualified service comapny. good luck peyton

Icemaker mold is flaking

The flaking probably has nothing to do with it overflowing. Hard water build up on the metal exposed by the flaking may cause dripping. It will wick the water right out. The overflow is more than likely a burned printed circuit on the back of the drive gear. The flaking is because they don't build them like they used to. The good ol days are gone.

Flakes of dirt on washing

Is this perhaps a second hand machine or it has possibily been stored away for some time? When a washer dries out inside ( behind the washer bowl ) and is then put back in service, dirt from years of use caked on insides flakes away ( like a dry leaf crumbles) and re-enters the wash and can end up on washed clothing. The only way to stop this is complete removal of washer bowl , scrub and clean insides to remove caked on dirt - reassembly. problem fixed !
