Question about GE JES1456 Microwave Oven

1 Answer

GE JES1456 microwave is making beeping sounds .

The microwave just started to make beeping sounds when it was not running. The only way I could get it to stop was to unplug it. When I plugged it back in, it let me set the time, but shortly after that, it had a message on the display screen . F-3. Now it will not let you push any buttons or anything. The only thing I can do is to unplug it. There is nothing in the manual saying what an F-3 is.

    F3 on a GE / Hotpoint
microwave means you have a shorted membrane keypad.

If and when an oven is coming on or doing anything by itself, this is very dangerous and can result in a fire.

    So until it is repaired,
please leave it unplugged or leave the door
open when it's not in use, and please do not leave it running
    unattended.

    Please reply back with
your full model number from the tag inside the oven so we can let you know how it can be repaired and what the cost will be.

Unfortunately, GE has not made a parts list available for this model, so they may not be supplying parts.

It may be an exchange-only model, then out of warranty, I'm not sure...

HTML clipboardGE Customer Service is here. They'll have that answer.

Good luck.

My GE stainless steel 1100 watt microwave starts beeping out of the blue and the display panel shuts off and when I open the door it resets itself and then starts to beep when I close the door again.

Try removing the power cord for about a minute, push all the touch pad 'buttons' and then plug it back in. If this doesn't work it sounds like you may have a bad door interlock switch or a bad PCM .. Good luck !

No power-nothing....

Yes, a defective thermostat can make the unit "dead".

The crimp connector should be replaced as well if it is damaged. See this video.

Can i just replace the pull handle which pulled away from the door

Hi lmnj1961,

From my experience, that is possible, but it needs to be replaced with an exact type, especially for safety purposes. Perhaps some handyman you know may be able to help. Do not forget that if the door is not properly fitted, the switch that tells the Microwave that the door is closed may be malfunctioned. That is how a microwave can only turn on with the doors closed.

Hope this helps,

Made a popping sound. Runs but doesn't heat

Remove the outer cover and look for a blown fuse. Change the high voltage diode (pull the power plug first) and the 'stirrer' (a fan-like device located inside the sheet metal waveguide near the port where the microwave energy enters the cooking cavity). It's plastic bearing will arc-over causing a short circuit on the microwave energy.

I have a JES 1456 GE Sensor microwave oven purchased at Walmart about 3 years ago. It has worked great up until now and it just quit. It is blacked out and does nothing. It quit without a sound while in...

Sounds like you have a thermal reset opening up on the unit and disabling it till it cools down. Make sure all air intakes are clear of debris, papers from the counter , etc. also make sure no dust covering air intake holes. Do you hear a fan running when the unit starts?? If not, bad fan, burnt wires. bad main board. Like a lot of my other posts, maybe a bad fuse and fuse holder. Check for brown flux coming out of shiney metal end of fuse, where it meats the ceramic body. Replace fuse and fuse holder. Sometimes fuses do just get tired and barely open, not actually blow, then just expansion and contraction of the element inside will make the unit work and then quickly shut off. Cheapest way is just sub the fuse and give it a try. Cost you a dollar or two, if that works replace the fuse holder too.

GE microwave model jes1456 has sensor error

On GE models, "SENSOR ERROR" appears on the display when:
  • Using the sensor feature, the door was opened before steam could be detected. Do not open the door until stream is sensed and time is shown counting down on the display.
  • Steam was not detected in the macimum amount of time. Use Time Cook to heat for more time.
