SOURCE: Color Faded

This sounds like a typical Developer Drive failure. The Developer Drive for color is different that the black developer drive. This is why black can print fine, but colors are faint or non existant. see below,a recent bullitin about this exact issue from Dell. ( the ROS, is the printhead, and is located behind the 4 developers.

5100cn Printer
Print Quality Issue
1. Problem: - Color images are extremely faint or not produced, but black images are produced without any problem.
Resolution: - Replace Developer drive assembly (H6702) and clean ROS Window/Glass.
If you chose to persue this repair, you can probably find a replacement developer drive by doing either a google search for the part number listed ( H6702 ) or an ebay search for the same. We can also provide you with removal and replacement instructions.

Good Luck

SOURCE: want to print with black ink cartridge only

It is a little known fact that ink cartridges do have an expiry date, and it is sometimes possible that even if a printer reads full, that it has dried out and will not print. When you recieve a warning that your ink is too low you will simply be unable to print black ink after a certain point. Generaly if you want to print in only black you will have to do that when you print a document. For instance in IE when you go to file and then print you can select prefrences and select print in greyscale or black. hope this helps!

SOURCE: Dell 922 won't print black ink... only uses color

Perhaps the printer does not recognize that a mono/black cartridge is installed. Remove the mono cartridge and check to see that tape is removed then re-seat firmly. Unplug the printer from wall power to reset. Then try again.

Dell 1355cn error 007-371. what is it and how to fix it.

the error is related to the PHD , photoconductor unit is a component of a laser printer that includes a photosensitive print drum. Digitized data is sent via an electrostatic charge to the photoconductor or photosensitive drum, also called the PC kit, which then distributes the ink to the paper. try removing it and ensure their is no packaging stuck around it if it's new, it could also be faulty if you can try another from another Dell 1355CN, if it the error occurs again i would suspect their is a fault with the printer and recommend returning the unit

Black printing morphs into red after black ink cartridge installation

Your printer creates it's black by using ALL the colours together. This effectively gives a very dark purple rather than black.

It sounds like you have a colour cart that is drying up or may be struggling to get enough air into the cartridge. Make sure you have removed any tape over the vent holes if you are using compatible inks. If not then try running a couple cleaning cycles via the button panel/driver.

If you alter the settings in the driver by going into START - PRINTERS AND FAXES and then right click on your 2610 and select PROPERTIES - the changes you make in here will be set as the default settings for each print job.
