Re: where can i download a compaq p550 driver?
Tonight it must be the night of the smart aleks! Now read my lips and since you can't do that repeat after me. A Compaq p 550 driver is impossible to find because it does not exist! When you tried it on me before, I figured stupid kid he is writing numbers he finds anywhere. You got away with it once, but you will not do it twice. Compaq is a company that uses barcodes, so, no number of theirs can be less than two bits or may be four bits... Yes! We will help you fix your computer, because this is the promise to all our customers. From now on we go by the rules: (1) Name of Manufacturer; (2) Model Name and Number; (3) Give us the ID of the mother Board. If you have a problem we can help you! (4) We will need a detailed report from you about the problem you had and that will not do with one line. What happened before failure, duirng failure and after failure! If you can supply to me the information I need, we play ball, if not, then scram, disappear, get lost! I am a busy men in a hurry. You thought you could play a game with me? You think that you are tough? Give me your address and I will at your house tomorrow night waiting for you! You do not deserve to have my name or anyone else's name. You attempted to make a joke out of what many people depend. I spit on your face!

First try a reset... then try turning off the little power switch next to the reset, then turn it back on. If none of this works, your firmware is likely corrupted... then: You either need to return it to Mitac or locate (Google) & flash the firmware file into the unit as follows:
Connect the mio p550 to PC 1.put the Button of the PDA in ON position 2. hold the joystick downward and press the reset button 3.choose "Image Upgrade tools" 4.choose "0=Image by USB" 5.intall the usb driver (PC require the drivers). The driver in the folder "USB driver" that comes with the firmware file. 6.open the software "dnw5.0e" (also comes with the firmware package). 7.(if you want to make a test of connection USB, click the "USB port/Status". If all is ok go to step 8 8. click "USB port/transmitted" and to show the way of the file "MioP550 - Osc260A R05_P09.nb0" 9.press the reset button to restart the mio p550.
You'll need to find the firmware (ROM) image file (Google) and then:
Connect the mio p550 to PC 1.put the Button of the PDA in ON position 2. hold the joystick downward and press the reset button 3.choose "Image Upgrade tools" 4.choose "0=Image by USB" 5.intall the usb driver (PC require the drivers). The driver in the folder "USB driver" 6.open the software "dnw5.0e" 7.(if you want to make a test of connection USB, click the" USB port/Statute". If all is ok go to step 8 8. click "USB port/transmitted" and to show the way of the file "MioP550 - Osc260A R05_P09.nb0" 9.press the reset button to restart the mio p550. Good luck!
The important thing is the ampage. If you have your old car charger check the ampage output. A higher amp rating charger will be ok as the p550 will only draw the current it needs. The voltage you listed sounds like a house charger not a portable car charger. cars run at 12v and the output should be something like 5v dc - 1amp (normally anyway).
if you have xp you will need to download microsoft active sync from www.microsoft.com and if you have vista you will need microsoft sync centre, these will be the latest versions and should work fine good luck
on/off switch in "off" position for at least 30 seconds, then turn it in "on " position, power on and "reset". You'll lose all your data and all the installed programs. Alternative: using the screen options, go to "system info", and choose "hard reset". Beware: pushing the joystick down while doing a reset will get you a boot menu with memory-formatting options. Choose "exit". Otherwise look into xdadevelopers forum (Google it or go to, say, Mio P550 / P350 ROM upload [Archive] - xda-developers ) A good idea would be to backup your data in the first place- just a hint. Enjoy.
