While the 360 is off remove EVERYTHING connected to it. Now plug in ONLY the power and A/V cables. Turn it on and see if any errors occur. Please respond for further help.

When you get a message like that stand the 360 up or lay it down which ever one is opposite of your current placement that will fix it if it does it again repeat it may take a few times but it works

Gives me an error E 68 what is that? New xbox is only 10 months old.

The e68 error on your Xbox 360 is caused by a hard drive/HDD problem, much like all of the problems in the "e6x" family of error codes on the Xbox 360 platform. It can be caused by an internal connection error with the hard drive, a general failure of the hard drive, or overheating of the hard drive. Basically, there is quite a large range of things that can cause the Xbox 360 e68 problem, which can make troubleshooting the issue slightly difficult.

E68

The e68 error can mean a bunch of different things on an Xbox 360.

I have personally had this error and I had to turn the unit off, unplug it, disconnect the HDD, reconnect the HDD, plug it back in and power it on.

Fixed it like a champ.

Here's some useful websites that contain information on the e68 error:

The e68 error on your Xbox 360 is caused by a hard drive/HDD problem. Basically, there is quite a large range of things that can cause the Xbox 360 e68 problem, which can make troubleshooting the issue slightly difficult.

To fix the e68 code on your Xbox 360 is to remove the internal hard drive and try playing your console without it. If it then works, then you can be sure that you can permanently fix the problem. If not, then you will have more serious issues on your console that will need to be checked over by Microsoft, as the e68 is generally believed to be related only to your console's hard drive/HDD.

Hope this helps.

Do i need a new hard drive if the one i have gives me the e68 error when it it in the xbox when it isn't in it turns on no red light but when i plug it back in i gives me it again. thank you.

Hello! no need to worry! the E68 error code is one of the more simple things to fix. most of the time it's just simply a hardware fluke. Attached you will find detailed instructions on how to successfully restore your hard drive and eliminate the e68 error code. If unfortunately, you must purchase a new hard drive, you can find reasonably priced drives at your local electronics or computer store.
If the steps listed in the link fail, the contact information for Microsoft is included as well. Good Luck!!

How i fix on my xbox 360 e68 problem?

hi, that error code usually relates to either a problem with the hard drive or a problem with the fans or a problem with some external source such as extra fans or other devices connected to your xbox, so try playing with no hard drive attatched and if it still dont work you know the hard drive is working as it should, if it works without the hd then it will need formatting or getting a new drive.

if it still dont work and you have extra things plugged into xbox unplug them and see if it works, if nothing works then the problem could relate to the wrong voltage getting to the fans.

here is the exact e68 error code:
E68: Hard Drive Error - Hard drive not DMA configured: It could be a problem with the Hard Drive itself or a problem with the internal connection to the hard drive, Try removing the hard drive and playing without it. Also this can be caused by a problem with the fans that make them draw too much power, it can also be caused if you have unnecessary accessories attached to the console like an external fan unit. Attempt to remove unnecessary accessories first, and then necessary components such as the hard drive and USB devices. If you have any case mods you may want to investigate those as well.

let me know how you get on or if you need further assistance ok

please rate this solution as i have a whole page of unrated posts, thanks
