Connected up the Seagate 250 GB yesterday. All good, spent the rest of the day transferring files over movies etc. I also foolishly deleted the files i transferred (to G drive), from my C drive...Doh....Switched system back on today and the drive (G) is not there. The power light is pulsing on and off. The G drive does not appear in the drives under my computer.
Tried all the cables and they seem ok, unplugged, swiched on and off, restarted PC, all to no avail.
I can retrieve my music files from my recycle bin but all my movies i've already emptied from my recycle bin....oops.
Where do we go from here??? Is it back to the store i fear.....

Are you using the USB (dual) cable supplied with the disk drive. It appears that you may need power from 2 USB ports. This certainly seems to have solved the problem for me.

Sounds to me like you are in a catch 22 situation. It seems that there is an internal problem with the drive and Seagate is willing to replace it but you need your files. The problem is with an internal problem the only possibility of getting your files is to open it up and take out the hard drive that is inside (it would be a standard desktop or laptop hard drive) and connect it to a computer through some other means. If you do this however, the warranty will be void and you will not be able to get the drive replaced. The best way around it that I can see is to get the drive out and buy a different carrier for it. Assuming that the actual drive still works you will get your files and have a working external hard drive. There is no real way to be certain that the drive on the inside is good without opening up the case that it is in.

How do I work on my data on the Seagate FreeAgent 2TB GoFlex Desktop USB 2.0 Hard Drive as my computer memory is at capacity. I want to be able to use my external hard drive as an extension of my computer...

Assuming you are using a Windows operating system, you can just plug it into your computer's USB ports, and the computer will recognise it as another hard drive.

Instructions:
Double-click on 'My Computer' and take note of what drive letters are there (C:, D:, etc.) before you plug in the Seagate Freeagent.
Plug in the Seagate Freeagent. You'll see the new drive, likely E: or F: (depending on what is already there before you plugged in the Seagate Freeagent)
Double-click on the new drive, and it'll open up and you'll see the files stored on that drive. You can drag and drop files and save to this drive like any other folder on your computer.

Seagate freeagent Go 640 gb not being reconised on my computer can't access important files

Try using a different computer to access the hard drive. If another computer cannot access the hard drive, then most likely the hard drive itself is corrupted, and you need to reformat or replace it.

Seagate Freeagent not being installed

beck up your all files, then install a New Operating system, u install and un-install it, therefore it seems that some files are missing. and the fact is not installing and showing the device again.
so install a fresh O.S, and install it again,, and Enjoy..

Tryi8ng to install portable 120GB hard drive (seagate)

If your USB ports do not supply enough power (older computers) then the drive may fail to show up in My Computer.
The Seagate should have a special Y cable. There are two USB connectors on one end that must both plug into your computer - one for data and power - the other for power only. The other end of the cable has the mini USB which plugs into the Seagate.
