Question about GPS

Omnitech 4.3 16878-US waiting on GPS signal

I received this msg on 6/14 beginning a trip home. The 2 previous days worked fine all the way up to night before. Now I cannot obtain a signal. The GPS menu option shows 1-4 satellites and says "connected". The GPS tries to recalculate the route but ends up waiting on GPS signal. Does anyone have any ideas? Is there anything interfering with signals, conversion to digital TV or something?

GoNav, the maker of the firmware, has confirmed a 'bug' in their code and stated they would have a fix posted before 19 Jun.

My finedrive is not picking up an signal...it says waiting for gps signal and nothing happens.

some of the reasons a GPS cannot find signals..

1) BAUD rate and PORT are incorrect
2) GPS not in clear view of the sky
3) Battery is too low to receive signal.. Recharge using USB or AC charger before trip
4) Siirf chip is damaged from plugging in gps when starting the engine, this will damage the chip beyond repair

Touch screen stop working

Hello,
Omnitech GPS systems are very decent for me. I have 2.
There were several reports of GPS problems beginning on or about 11-14 June 2009. This is due to the GPS navigation messages rollover from 255 to 0. Some GPS systems fail to accommodate this behavior; Omnitech is one of them.
Staples did provide a firmware update a few days later. There are also other firmware updates available on the net. I personally successfully update the firmware and resolve the problem around June 15, 2009.
Otherwise, the problem should go away after 1-2 weeks.

Waiting for a vaild GPS signal. three days. been

You essentially have to reset the GPS. You can do this by holding the power button down for at least four seconds to get the Tom Tom to fully shutdown. You will know you successfully did this if you hear the tom tom sound and a warning message appears during startup. It then seems to work just fine after that.

Waiting for valid gps signal

Try resetting your device. Depending on the model you have, this is done by either using the pin or holding down the power button for about 15 - 30 seconds. You'll know the reset has been successful when the legal agreement come up when it comes back on. Once this is done, go outside and on the device, go to the satellite detail screen and wait until several (about 4) of the bars are 75% or higher (they should change colors). You should go the the regular screen after that and you should be able to navigate again.
