Question about RTO W/ Overflow Chrome 1 5/8" Vessel Sink Pop-up Drain

Vessel sink's drain is leaking

Does not appear to be any of my connections. Vessel has one of those push down stoppers in it's base. When closed, no leaks! when open water leaks out from underneath. I have the rubber gasket between the big nut (underneath) and the granite underside, but water pours out.

Had the same problem and consulted a plumber. Put the entire drain on the sink first. Make the hole big enough to drop the drain down. The base of the vessel sink with overflow should be broader than a sink without overflow allowing you to make a hole big enough. Drop the sink and drain down the larger hole and into the drain system. In this case you tighten the drain to the sink and not to the counter. Silicone under the sink will adhere it to the vanity counter.

SOURCE: Pegasus Push Button Vessel Sink Drain with overflow

Put plumbers putty around the flange that will be in contact with the sink. When you put it into the hole, try to line up the overflow as good as possible. The nut that goes onto the bottom (tailpiece) has a rubber gasket that will go between the nut & the sink. Adding some plumbers putty here won't hurt. After all is secure, just remove the putty that squeezed out from tightening.

Just installed a vessel sink and it leaks between the vessel and under sink.

Use silicone to seal the flange and teflon tape on the threads that the drain flange screws onto. make sure that the sink isn't cracked. make sure that you have a washer under the rubber gasket that seals the bottom of the sink and tighten the nut against the washer snuggly.

Very slow drain age ,cleaned several times. could cause be vent problems???

Well, it could be a venting issue, but presumably your sink is vented, to pass code. Try removing the stopper and test again. Most stoppers or screen covers slow flow too much, in my opinion.

Installing a vessel sink

Standard Vanity height is approx 34.5". A vessel vanity is approx 31" high. If you cannot remove the legs from your existing vanity then it will have to be replaced or cut down to the correct height. The reason a vessel vanity is lower is because your sink will be approx 3 to 6 inches higher than a standard drop in sink. This may be more work than it is worth. Vessel sinks most often will require a solid surface top, either glass, stone or another type of composite material. The standard laminate vanity top has a particle board substrate which will detiorate quickly at the drain location.

Vessel sink drain causes poolin of water.

YOU ALSO HAVE A VENT ISSUE, THE VESSEL SINK DOESN'T HAVE THE LITTLE HOLE IN IT LIKE A VANITY SINK, THERE FOR THE WATER IS GOING DOWN THE DRAIN BUT THE AIR CAN NOT COME OUT, YOU NEED TO INSTALL A STUDOR VENT OR AN INLINE VENT INTO THE DRAIN BETWEEN THE WALL AND THE TRAP CUT IN A TEE AND BRING A PIPE UP TO THE BOTTOM OF THE COUNTER TOP AND INSTALL THE VENT, USALLY HAVE TO PUT A FEMALE ADPT ON THE TOP OF THE PIPE THE VENT COMES WITH THREADS DO NOT GLUE IT IN PLACE, THEY HAVE A RUBBER FLAPPER THAT OPENS WHEN THE WATER IS GOING THRU THE DRAIN AND ALLOWS IT TO PULL IN AIR THEN THE FLAP CLOSES WHEN NO WATER IS RUNNING TO KEEP THE SEWER SMELL OUT

Look underneath the sink and you will find the lever that moves the drain up and down. It is probably stuck.
