So when you plug it in the a USB port it isn't found by windows?
Option: If you can remove the drive from the case, you can use a drive adapter that will allow you to access the drive itself. If the drive still can't be found in windows you can try Linux. Download Pinguy OS

If you can find the drive in computer manager? Then it might say it needs to be formatted. If you format the drive, you could then use a recover software like Recuva from filehippo.com (Worst Case)
Pinguy linux has great tools to help recover faulty drives also.
If this has help, please give me you vote..

How do i detect the ip of my iomega

you have two options:

1) Install the Iomega management software and it will detect the connected storage at your network automatically, then you will be able to view the IP address
2) connect to your router management console and check the connected devices; if your network is not huge you will be able to locate the device easily

Quikprotect is not able to connect to Iomega network hard drive, though it can detect it. I can see the drive in Windows Explorer and manually copy files to it. But I am not able to set target location in...

make sure you have the Lenovo storage manager software installed. Make sure you can see the device from the storage manager and all the shares. Once this populates you can then see the shares in quickprotect. I believe quick protect polls Storage manager rather than the actual network.

Purchased new Iomega 1 TB Home Media network HD, and both my MBP and PC windows 7 won't recognize the device.

you have to initilize the disk in disk management utility, heres how (windows XP)

  1. Click on Start and then Control Panel.
  2. Click on the Performance and Maintenance link.
Note: If you're viewing the Classic View of Control Panel, you won't see this link. Just double-click on the Administrative Tools icon and skip to Step 4.
  3. In the Performance and Maintenance window, click on the Administrative Tools link located under the or pick a Control Panel icon heading near the bottom of the window.
  4. In the Administrative Tools window, double-click on Computer Management.
  5. When Computer Management opens, click on Disk Management on the left.
In a few seconds, Disk Management will load on the right side of the Computer Management window.
Note: If you don't see Disk Management listed, you may need to click on the + icon to the left of Storage to expand the option.
  6. You can now format a hard drive, change a drive's letter, partition a hard drive, or do whatever else you need to do in Windows XP's Disk Management tool.

I don't know how to make a wireless connection with this device. 2 notebooks, 1 desktop, 2 Ipads, 1 PS3 and the Wii wireless connected and working the Printer and Iomega 1 TB Media Network Hard Drive are...

Make sure you are at least using a CAT 5 cable with your device. You will want to do a couple things as well. Give your device a static IP address (manually configure the IP) from withing the devices interface (login to your device, System tab on the left and Network tab on the right). Next go to your folders you are wanting to share and click the DLNA button that corresponds with the folder you are wanting your media server to share out. You should be good to go.

Bought a new network hard drive 1tb iomega. Operating system requirements is XP. Saleman said it would update on line & work with windows 7. doesnot happen for me . Is it compatible or not? CD will not...

The drive will not update itself automatically. You will have to download the firmware update and update it yourself. You may also want to get the latest Manager software that is Windows 7 compatible.
