Will not stay connected to internet

This would depend on how you are connecting. If by a wireless router, check the signal strength, walls (especially thick or damp), objects with moisture like human bodies all drop signal strength because microwaves are absorbed by water. If the signal strength is good, check the routers logs by accessing the router's administration web page which usually has a statistics or log of past faults. If it is not the router or others using the router are not having the same issue. Then I'd require more information about how you are accessing the internet.
There may be software packages trying to access the Internet that are being blocked, which would block your connection.
The variables here are quite numerous.

My acer aspire one wont connect to internet. it says it is connected to wireless, and i have wired it to modem but the problem still persists. please help.

Based on your description, the following is assumed.
1. The service to your Internet Service Provider is through a cable or DSL modem.
2. Internet service was initially set-up with your netbook directly connected to the modem.
3. A wireless router was since added and is using the direct wired connection to the modem.
4. The netbook is connected to the wireless access point being provided by the router.
5. The netbook says it is connected to the wireless access point but still no internet access.
The problem is likely due to the modem capturing the MAC address of the netbook when access to the internet servce was initially set up using the netbook directly connected to the modem and now the modem will only allow access with the netbook directly connected to it. You can check this out by reconnecting the netbook directly to the modem. It may be possible to "flush" the captured MAC by unplugging the AC power to the modem, waiting a few minutes and then powering back up with the router connected in place of the netbook. To make it easier, you may want connect your netbook directly to the router's LAN side to check if you now have internet access through the router. If you still don't have internet access, you will need to use your netbook to log onto the router to clone your netbook's MAC address for the router's WAN connection. The router's user guide/manual has directions on logging in and doing the MAC address clone. It will also have an explanation as to what is a MAC address.

Can the aspire 5315-2077 be connected with a wireless modem?..if

Thank you for contacting Fixya. This is Anil.
I understand that you want to know if the Laptop has wireless capabality and if so, how to use it. I will be glad to help you with it.

I have checked my resources and confirmed that it has wireless capabalities. The best way to check if the computer can access to Internet wirelessly is to boot the computer to "Safemode with Netwroking", to do so, restart the computer and as soon as it restarts keep on tapping F8 key, now select "Safemode with Networking" from the Advance boot menu. Try to connect to internet (make sure wireless switch is Turned ON). If you are able to connect to Internet in Safe mode then the issue is with the firewall on you computer, contact the firewall manufacture or change the settings. If you are still unable to connect to Internet, then the internet setting are not correct, you may need to contact the ISP.

I believe the above resolution should resolve the issue, however, if the issue still persists, please contact us. We will be glad to help you.
Thank you. Have Great Day.

My wifi connects to my wireless system but I cannot get on the internet through internet explorer. I keep getting "cannot find server"

This is quite a long reply and may appear very technical - however, have a read through and see what you can do Answer. The following assums that your wireless connection is working and other PCs are able to connect:
There could be quite a lot of reasons you are not getting a connection to the wireless - some common issues
  1. 1) the wireless is switched off
  2. 2) Wireless Secruity
  3. 3) Firewall may be blocking
  4. 4) Remove profile
  5. 5) Check Device working in Device manager
  6. 6) Something else on the PC blocking
so quite a few things to check - so lets start in order
  1. 1) Wireless Switch:- Most laptops have a wireless switch - some use a physical switch, other use a combination of the FN key + one of the F keys to toggle on/off - make sure this is on
  2. 2) Wireless Security:- Loginto the router, this may seem difficult, but its really straight forward, - however you will need to know how to login into your make of Router - A manual will be available from the routers manufacturers website to explain how to login. Once you have logged into the router main page, goto the wireless section and remove any wireless security, this maybe a simply as a box and click disable. --- Now see if the machine will connect to the wireless. Also remove wireless profiles
  3. 3) Firewall:- The firewall my be blocking access - try to disable the firewall. Often programs like Norton, Mcafee etc, when the subscription runs out can cause issues and need to be uninstalled, to uninstal you may need to use the removal tool available on thier websites. One of the ways to test this, is to do a PING test. Press the "Windows key" {bottom left of the keyboard} and at the same time press the "R key", now in the search box that appears - type "CMD", a black box will now appear on your screen, in that box type the following "ping" if you get 4 replies then you can access the internet and your firewall may well be blocking the access try disabling the firewall.
  4. 4) Remove wireless profiles
  5. 5)Have a look at device manager Press the Windows key (bottom left of the keyboard} and at the same time press the R key, now in the search box that appears - type devmgmt.msc and see if you have any ? X or ! look under network adapters - click on the + and see if you have the adapter listed It will have a name something with wireless or 802.11 B/G/N included - check if it has any X or ! or ?
  6. 6) safemode:- Try to boot the PC into "safe mode with networking". To do this switch the PC on and now as it starts keep tapping the F8 key untill a menu appears, from that menu choose "safe mode with networking". If you can now connect to the internet, then there is something blocking your access on the PC when it starts normally - post back a comment and if that's the case, We can try doing a "clean boot" and try to identify the startup or process that is causing the issue
A very useful tool to use for wireless issues is xirrus, If you can copy the program onto the PC thats not working and install and run, this test if your adapter is working and also will display all the networks broadcasting in your area. Which will prove the hardware works.
  • If this solutions solves you problem, please do not forget to rate my solution.
  • If not, then please comment back so I can help some more

Wireless Router Randomly Disconnects

I am having this problem as well, however my connection goes from 56M down to 1M and I cant connect to anything. I previously thought it was my router but none of my other systems experience it. If you know someone with an external Wireless card I'd suggest trying that before purchasing one. I dont believe anyone can fix an internal wireless card that goes bad. Try downloading the latest drivers for your PC/LAPTOP's wireless device and reload it.
