Question about Acer Aspire 5050-3242 Notebook
I own an acer aspire4310 notebook and i have just formatted it to xp.. my problem is sometimes(about once in 2 days) it will suddenly display a mix white and light blue stripes and will completely turn white in a few minutes.. upon restarting it seems to boot normally but the flaw repeats a few days later.. please help me..
I have an ACER extensa 5630 laptop with the same white screen problem. I found the wiring connecting the LCD and mother board was the problem. Several ground wires from the LCD were wrapped, but not soldered, around another wire from the microphone which then goes to the connector for the motherboard. You will need to remove all the tape wrapped around the wires starting from the motherboard connector to about 3 inches back.

Apparently some series of Acer notebook came with BAD_EDID laptop display. The only thing wrong is the checksum which is 9D and should be 1D. Powerstrip 3.76 (registered version) managed automatically to correct EDID. (cari di Mbah google yah..)
There is no problem with drivers from 101.x series, but with any newer driver max. resolution is 1024×768 and the picture is in left upper corner of the screen with black bar on the right and smudged taskbar to the bottom of the screen. After installing and restarting resolution is set to 800×600 what results in white screen whit thick black bar slowly appearing on the screen.
I hope this will save someone some time, because I was about to send laptop to service when I figured that out. Contacting through e-mails and phones with acer and local authorized service didn’t solve anything they just said that I should reset laptop to factory defaults, in other words don’t install any new driver and everything will be fine.
Just thinking about future

I had the same problem but I was able to solve this problem. It was a connection problem between the lcd and the motherboard. I have bought contact spray and sprayed a little bit of it on the lcd connector. Since then everything is fine.

Addressing this problem may be too old basing on the last post above but for whatever its worth, here's my take on the ACER 4310 screen problem.
First off, our 4310 has been running extremely hot. I am convinced that the problem of the screen is due to the poor connection of the LCD and the motherboard. Notice how most of the time it fixes itself after you move the screen back and forth? Mine does.
Back to the how it is related to the heat problem. I think that due to excessive heat, the integrity of the LCD connection has become affected. At first, mine would display problems after extended use until eventually, I'd get the problem even upon start-up. Meaning, the connections have, by then, degraded affecting positive connection even while cool.
I opened the panel to check and ensure a positive connection and bought a cooling platform to mount the notebook on. Since then, I no longer experienced the problem.
I've owned several Asus' and Dell's and while ACER had very good reviews, I was not too impressed with this model. It surely has affected my confidence on ACER.
PS: Battery life is a mere 45 mins NEW!

Hello sorry if i'm posting this solution a bit late i'm ..definitely have the same problem that is screen become white if i move the lcd..and i solved it by my self..the lcd coaxial cable connecting the mobo and lcd is moving if ur move the lcd back and forth..to avoid this simply wrap a tape around the wire..i mean just below the head of the plug..of course ur have to open the casing the unplug it before wrap it..by the way ur all must be know where the lcd coaxial cable connect to mobo right..it pretty simple..what i mean by open the casing is the middle cover whre the on/off button is located..carefully prying the middle case..if your still don't get it go acer support to download the pdf on how to dissambly the lcd coaxial..what happen actually is the wire is moving so by wrapping the wire below lcd coaxial head the movement is reduce and become tight...

I have the same problem..my screen turns white when i move the laptop a little or close the lid..i tried searching and i found out that maybe it's a loose connection between the lcd and the motherboard and try reseatting it. i haven't tried it yet because there's no service center of my laptop nearest to our place..
