Why do you think a capictor will fix the problem ? What does error code d mean ?

    My Solution:

Code "d" means the microwave is in "Demo Mode".

Push and hold the "Kitchen Timer" pad for 5 seconds until you hear two beeps.

If you check carefully, You may also find this info in your user Manual under "Demo/Learning" feature

  • ptishkevich Jun 16, 2009

Thanks but I wrote this as a solution in the comment you responded to.... ; )

The letter "d" is indicating the microwave is in a demo/learning feature.
To cancel the "demo" mode press and hold "Kitchen Timer" for 5 seconds. Two tones will sound and the small "d" will disappear from the display.

YAY!!! i think you saved me a ton of money. .same thing happened to me, power was shut off and when turned back on the microwave wouldn't heat anything, and it had the letter d. most sites said it was a huge deal and very pricey, but in reality it was simply a push (and hold) of a button. :) thanks!!!

Problem description points out to the capacitor failure.

Exact interpretation of the error code might be available at manufacturers service manual, but in most of the cases it will be just generic failure code with reference to bring device to service.

These types of manuals are available only internally at manufacturer's service centres and normally are not disclosed as repairing microwaves at home might be dangerous and by not providing these manuals manufacturer avoids responsibility for any actions taken by the amateur repairer.

change capacitor and this should fix the issue.

SOURCE: microwave has loud buzz and does not work

It's probably a shorted high-voltage diode or magnetron, but there's some chance it's a bad high-voltage transformer.

If you or a friend decide to work on it, we have *critical* safety, disassembly, and troubleshooting info at our site, which is linked at our listing here on FixYa: http://tinyurl.com/yzjozk

You can probably find an exploded view and order parts by entering your model number here: http://www3.sears.com

This is always covered in the owner's manual or installation manual. If you don't have yours, you can find one here.

In some cases, you can get it free if you see a "Manage My Home " link on the right side of the page after entering your model number.

F6 appears to be a relay failure on the main board, but it may be a door switch or door switch mount.

This is usually caused by either a bad door switch, a loose door switch mount, or a problem on the control panel.

Even though a door switch clicks, it may still be bad inside. Its continuity must be checked.

Door switch or mount trouble can be caused by slamming the door or by opening the door while it's cooking without hitting the Stop pad first.

There are plastic mounts inside the microwave which hold the door switches and onto which the door hooks latch when you close the door.

The screws on these mounts may be loose. If they get too loose, the switches will not be activated properly.

Sometimes it's a broken tab on the switch holder, allowing the switch to rotate just out of position. Other times, it's a broken tab on the switch holder, allowing the switch to rotate just out of position. This tab can be hard to see, since it is under the bottom edge of the switch.

If you or someone you know decide to look into it, we have critical information on safety, disassembly and door switches at our site, and our link is at our listing here on FixYa: http://tinyurl.com/yzjozk

You can find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number here: http://tinyurl.com/gv383

If you think the problem is on the control panel, we repair these nationwide by mail for $39.95 postpaid in most cases.

I have a Kenmore Elite Speedcook Microwave oven, model #665.63783600. What does error code F7 mean on this model?

F7 Error Code On Microwave Ovens With Inverter Board

An F7 error code could be an inverter board failure. Anything else that prevents microwave energy may also cause an F7 error, and must be checked. The technician should perform the following procedure to test for an F7 error code:

1. Check the magnetron.
2. Check the magnetron TCO (it should be closed).
3. Check the 3 interlock switches.
4. Check the harness wiring.
5. Check the electronic controls.
6. Check the inverter board.

For more free help, feel free to contact me via my site with your detailed symptoms and full model number and FCC ID number as shown on the tag in or on the oven.

What does F44 error code on Kenmore Elite model 790.4890 mean?

You may be missing a digit in the model number. I believe that this microwave was built by Electrolux for the Kenmore line. The F44 error indicates that the external cooling fan for the microwave is spinning too fast. This can be caused by a blockage. Check if there is anything blocking the airflow. Make sure that the voltage coming into the microwave is correct. If your voltage is too high, then the fan will spin faster.

The fan is part 108 on this diagram: http://www.searspartsdirect.com/model-part/79048903000/0583/0125400/r1009032/00003.html . It's at the back of the deflector at the top of the microwave. This is the diagram for the 790.48903000 .

If there is nothing wrong with the fan (spinning normally), then the problem is between the fan speed sensor and the control board. This should be fixed by a professional.

I hope this helps.
