SOURCE: hp optical mouse right click button does not

More than likely the mouse has "worn" per se. I know, not proper terminology, but best to understand. So my suggestion is to get a new mouse, not much you can do unless you take it apart and replace the bearings or button yourself. I'm sure there is a guide for such thing. But if you don't have time then you should just buy a new one from Wal-Mart or your local computer store.
Hope this helps. Good Luck!

HOw to replace the mouse left click and right click

The mouse click changes are based on OS used.
In windows OS ..Click Start button on your windows desktop. Select and click on Control Panel from the menu. Select and click Mouse from the control panel. From the Mouse Properties Window, select the Buttons tab. Select and check the Switch Primary and Secondary Buttons check box. Click the OK button.
Your mouse buttons should now be switched around, so now when you click your left mouse button, it will behave as a right-click, and clicking your right mouse button will behave as a left click.

My mouse has stopped working

The mouse buttons may have been swapped from LH to RH or vice versa.
Go to Control panel - Mouse - Buttons tab - in Button configuration click the selection box (Switch primary and secondary buttons) with the right button on the mouse.
If you have used the wrong mouse button then select it again with the correct button.
Then click Apply and then OK.

I've got a optical mouse 3000, and a bunch of batteries in the junk drawer, I'm sure at least one of them has good life in them, but the mouse keeps flashing red....also it seems to work when I right...

The red light is connectivity to the dongle on the PC.
Check your mouse settings in Windows for the left mouse button settings.
Does the mouse move on the screen?
You can try reversing the mouse buttons to see if the button is defective. If you swap the buttons and now right mouse clicks do not work, the button is defective.

Right click does not work

Probably have a bad mouse button on your palmrest. Try using an external mouse... does it right-click? If it works fine then you have a bad mouse button and will probably need a new palmrest to fix it.

If it still fails to right click with another mouse, then it is just a software setting in your PC, check your settings in control panel in the mouse options.

Good Luck.
