Question about Vizio VX37L Television
I have a similar problem. am using Cox Cable RI, expanded basic service.
used to get some digital content prior to the DTV cutover, but sometime prior to that, my VX37L continued to detect the digital channels when using autosearch, but didn't render the picture when tuned to the channel it found.
it does get digital signals over the air, with an outdoor antenna.
Your cable signals are probably encoded so that you have to use their cable box for reception. Renders your tv tuner useless used for OTA.

Save hours of searching online or wasting money on unnecessary repairs by talking to a 6YA Expert who can help you resolve this issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
Here's a link to this great service

0178 will work but you have to keep the set-up button pressed down for more than a few seconds after you press TV on your cox remote. (You will see the tv button light up 2 or 3 times after pressing it and holding the set-up button down)

That may not be correct. You would not lose all your digital channels. Vizio has an un-addressed problem with losing digital stations. Multiple threads are posted due to this problem, which is why I am on this site. I have lost all digital stations on CATV connection. The Toshiba set in the next room is getting over 150 DTV channels, the Vizio, only analog. Zero Digital.
