Hi I am having problems with my iPod (4GB) Nano. It just froze. I tried to reset it and it gave me an ok signal but now it won't turn on. Right now it is just opening thru itunes. iTunes was initially telling me it needed to prepare my iPod for recovery now it is saying it has detected my ipod but it couldn't be identified properly.
Earlier on it went on, showed me the (apple) showed me it was charging, asked me to reset to factory settings which i did now it just wont switch on. I have held menu and the round button many times
What should I do? Can someone tell me what to do next! Thanx
Re: The iPod is frozen, reset to factory settings.
Mine just had the same problem, it was frozen solid. So, I connected it to my pc, and it said that it needed to be re-formatted, so i went through the steps, and just as it was finishing, it said it could not be ocmpleted. So, I slid the lock switch on the ipod back and forth about 10 times, then at the same time pressed the center button, and the menu button, and it restarted like normal ! I hope this helps you !

I would recommend that you attempt to reset your Ipod by pressing and holding both the menu and center buttons for at least ten seconds or until an apple appears. Usually this is the only step needed to resolve a frozen iPod issue, but please do let me know if your issue is not resolved by this step :-)
Start by reseting it, hold down the "Menu" button and middle button for about 7-8 seconds. This will most likely work, if it doesn't, try restoring it. Do this by first plugging your iPod into your computer and starting iTunes. Then select your iPod in the list to the left, now click the "Restore" button located under the large picture of your iPod model. Restoring will probably take a little while, maybe 10-15 minutes.
First you can try to connect the ipod to your computer and try to update the software using the Itunes and then try to use your ipod... even after updating the software if you r not able to use, the you should restore the ipod to factory settings
1. Toggle the Hold switch on and off. (Slide it to Hold, then turn it off again.)
2. Press and hold the Menu and Select buttons until the Apple logo appears, about 6 to 10 seconds. You may need to repeat this step.
If you are having difficulty resetting your iPod, set it on a flat surface. Make sure the finger pressing the Select button is not touching any part of the click wheel. Also make sure that you are pressing the Menu button toward the outside of the click wheel, and not near the center.
If the above steps did not work, try connecting iPod to a power adapter and plug the power adapter into an electrical outlet, or connect iPod to your computer. Make sure the computer is turned on and isn't set to go to sleep.
