SOURCE: Samsung DLP HL-P5063W. . .no lamp!

I have the exact same problem, TV stared doing it about 12 days ago, I ordered and replaced the Lamp, it still does the same thing...

""Lamp" light flashes for 20 seconds and then you hear PS clicking, repeats cycle 3 times before it shuts off and all 3 lamps flash!"

Remove the rear cover and check the lamp cover switch. Earlier versions used a black plastic switch holder that may break due to improper assembly. The part number for the holder is BP61-01240A. Newer versions use a metal tab attached to the engine. In this case, improper assembly may cause the lamp cover switch to be extended past its range, either breaking the switch or causing it to have an open contact. Replace the switch with BP91-01231A.

Note that in these models, when reinstalling the rear cover, it is best to remove the lamp cover first, install the rear cover, then install the lamp cover. This will make sure that the lamp switch is properly engaged.

Our Samsung tv will not turn on/power on. It sounds like it starts to power on, the light blinks twice then you hear something, the light stays on solid after that. This model usually has an audible tone...

I would suggest two things you need to examine :

First remove and examine the lamp to make sure it is not shattered or fractured.

Second examine the color wheel that faces the lamp (see attached photo) and if you had a fan like sound or high pitched whine before that points to the color wheel.

The color wheel is a do it your self replacement (I can help) and takes less than a hour.

Let me know what you have tried and if the lamp or color wheel are intact.

I have a Samsung rear projection 42in. tv, the picture is faded and the colors are not crisp or clean cannot watch it like this what do you think the problem is? Mod# HC-R4241W Year 2005

This is evidently a CRT-type projector TV (the owner's manual provides a convergence procedure and warns against operating the set near magnetic field sources - these distort the picture in CRT displays - but has no mention of changing lamps as used in other types). The first thing to check is whether the CRT coolant fluid has discolored with age or algae contamination. This can be determined by visual inspection of the top of each picture tube.

Inspection procedure
CAUTION: there are potentially lethal voltages present inside the set, even it when it is turned off. Some components, including the picture tubes, can hold a charge for a time after the set is unplugged, and some parts can be ruined by static discharge from your fingers even if the shock is too small for you to feel it. Bottom line: don't touch the circuitry unless you know what you are doing.

First, unplug the set, and remove the back. Look for the three picture tubes (sometimes called "jugs" or "cannons") pointing up towards the curved and faceted mirror in the upper section of the set. These are usually mounted on a horizontal black-painted board or panel above the electronics. At the top of each tube is a lens about 7" across. Through the lens you will see a red, green or blue colored face. Using a flashlight, look down into each picture tube. If you see a muddy yellow cast to the color, that confirms the problem. If you have trouble identifying the picture tubes, make sure all hands are outside the set, plug it in and turn it on. Look for the red, green and blue light sources, but be careful not to touch anything or put anything metallic inside the set while it is plugged in. (Some Samsung models allow you to remove the entire projector screen assembly - everything above the control panel - as one piece. These are relatively simple to work on for this problem.)

If you need to change the CRT coolant, check the link here. Plan on it as a full weekend (or two) project if you want to do it yourself. An experienced rear projection TV tech could do it more quickly since there would not be so much time spent looking for connectors, attachment points, etc.

I have a samsung hc-p4752w and I'd like to find out where I can get an inexpensive blue picture tube.

The blue tube will cost $150-$200 from a Samsung parts distributor. Keep watching Ebay. Did you change the coolant by any chance? The coolant fogs really bad on the blue tube on this model and it looks like a bad CRT.

HX-P4241W appears yellow. Left and Right of screen are yellow

Yellow is the lack of blue. It can happen when you are running your contrast - which is your overall light level - too high.

Try turning down your contrast. On CRT tech, contrast should always be run at half what the factory allows as full, on the user controls. Full up is what calibrators call Torch Mode, and is NOT the way to get performance to be in the linear operating range of CRT tech.

If your sides are more yellow than your middle, your set may need lenstriping. Mild yellow on the sides is not uncommon, and usually not noticed. But heavy yellow on the sides would indicate that the blue image needs work on white field uniformity.

Yellow is the lack of blue, in CRT tech.
