Be sure all power outlets are turned on, and the power cable is inserted properly into the computer.

How to fix my computer PC so noisy

check the noise location.

It could be the internal fan or it could be the CD/DVD drive making noise.

You probably have to open the case/Tower to check what is causing the noise. If it is a fan make sure it is not obstructing with any wire and then close the tower carefully.

It could be the SMPS( switched mode power supply ) the power supply of the computer. SMPS is the box inside the tower where the power cable of the computer gets connected.

Try to check if that is making noise or not .. If it is get that replaced.

If it is a CD/DVD ??

check if the noise comes when the CD is in or it comes even if it is empty.

Both cases the CD/dvd drive needs repair.

Try the steps above and let me know if you have any other question.

My emachine T1742 desktop will not turn on. When plugged in the power supply's fan turns on, cpu fan doesnt start, both hdd/power led's flicker and pressing power button doesnt power on/off system.

Disconnect all the devices from the computer(tower) including keyboard, mouse, monitor(everything)..even the power cable

Now keep on holding down the power button on the computer tower for 15-30 seconds..

Now release the power button, plug in the power cable, monitor, keyboard, mouse and turn on the computer...

If it works, great!!!

Otherwise, take it for repair..

Grinding noise in tower

Grinding noise in tower If everything on your computer is working fine then it is probaly a fan put your ear in the back of your tower near the power cord and see if you can hear the grinding noise better if you can then your power supply's fan is going out if not its probally one of the inside fans in your tower open up your tower and see if you can find which fan it is if you dont want to do this you should probaly get a tech to look at it it's a pretty cheap fix and it can save your computer from heat dammage

FTT-R tower fan would oscillate but the fan would not run.

You might have a stripped gear in the tower where it oscillates. Hope this helps!

Dell Precision 670 Workstation REALLY LOUD and NOISY

It could be due to a failture of either the SMPS fan (Power Supply), the system cooling fan or the Videocard fan... Now checking the power Supply fan issue is easy... Take a toothpick {wooden} n insert it between the fan fins at the back of your tower... This is the fan that is visible from the back of your tower... Now if the noise stops then it is the SMPS fan issue

If it still persists then do the same procedure with the CPU fan located on the inside of the tower.. this is a bit tricky but you seem tech saavy enough to do so but anyways this is the link for a step by step procedure of getting inside your desktop

http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/ws670/en/ug_en/index.htm

The third case is the Graphics Card... now there is no way we can say this with certainty but you can do this... remove all connections from the back of the tower.. remove the graphics card, connect just the power chord n start back up... if the noise is gone then the Video Card is the culprit.. REMEMBER TO REMOVE POWER CHORD ALL TIMES YOU OPEN THE TOWER N BE VERY VERY CAREFUL N FOLLOW THE MANUAL  :-)

Constant rebooting of a computer can be cause by alot of reason the most common for this is due to oevrheating, to check if this is a overheating problem try to open the case of the tower and put a electric fan in front of the tower to coll it down then power ON thecomputer and if it booted up fine with a electric fan blowing on the tower we're sure that you need to add some colling device on the computer tower, But if still do the same thing the problem here is the power supply unit it needs a replacement already....
