You may have caused a short inside, what you may do is clean out the board with cleaning solution for electrical appliances. These are solutions without any water contents. I think they have high concentrations alcohol in it. Once the board is clean you may see the extent of the damage. Blown out components. I hope they are within the removable parts, like the memory or the hard drive which can be replaced. Otherwise the entire system might be broken.

If you've spilled sugary liquids over electronic devices, the most common problem is power supply. The power is not getting through to your laptop. Try taking out all the power supplyl; ac power cord, battery, and any other external devices (ipods, usb cables, etc.) Next, dry out your laptop. The most effective way, for me at least, is to open your laptop so that the keyboard and screen is perpendicular to each other Then, turn it upside down and let it hang over the desk. This way the keyboard part is resting upside down, while the flat surface is resting on your desk while the screen hangs over the edge

Hello. I have Sony Vaio PCG-5426. And I can't reinstall windows on that machine. I have out CD-ROM "II FreeCom" and i try to reinstall with that. In BIOS menu I acces for first boot drive...

you shouldn't need to have to press f9 to boot from cd rom if you have it set in the bios as the first boot device , are you sure the copy of windows on cd that you have is bootable. Try booting from the disc on another laptop or pc and see if you can start it

Another option to try is to boot from a usb drive

instructions on how to do that are here

http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=118576

once you have booted to usb you should be able to access the cd rom

depending on what version of windows you are trying to install you will need to run different programs.

you could also install vista or windows 7 to usb drive and install it from that, it is much quicker than installing from cd/dvd you would need to be able to boot from usb to start with though

how to install vista or windows 7 from usb instructions can be found here

I have a sony vaio pcg. it powers on and does nothing else. the 2 little cooling fans come on but the hard drive doesn't run and screen won't come on. can anyone help me out. thanks

Hello,

Its possible that you already have a bad hard drive. It may have crashed. Your system will not boot without the hard drive running. The computer will keep on trying to look for the Hard drive that's probably why it looks like its doing nothing. Bring your machine to sony and have them fix it. If you know how to open up your Vaio, try to check the Hard drive connection and see it its loose, if its not loose. its time to replace the hard drive.

I hope this helps. Thanks and have a nice day.
