You need to reinstall your os. There is a place in the xm bar to restore OS to original factory settings.

Corrupted files, how do you repair?

Can you still play the game ok? If the game you are trying to play wont start up, then the disk could be damaged. If it is downloaded content, then the file could be corrupt and require a more stable connection to install. You may have to delete everything about the said game including offline files to reinstall. Good luck, and I hope this helps.

Playstation 3 hard disk files corrupted???

hey ash,

ps3 Hard drive needs to be manually reformatted and checked for bad sectors.

as what youve said, you already formatted it and yet it still says there is a corrupt system file.

when i say "manually formatted" you have to clearly take the hard drive out and format it using another pc or ps3.

OmI have a game that wont play anymore I went and brought the same game new and it wont play either

If you have not tried playing other games since this problem started, you should do that now. Also, clean the PS3 laser lens in the disk drive just to be sure this is not the problem (in many cases it is). Also, if this is a game you have already played and have data files for, they may have been corrupted, but if you delete the corrupted data then it should work fine. If this does not help, it still is most likely a problem with your system; a sign that there are some malfunctions within the hardware. If this continues (or gets worse), contact Sony and they should provide you with a refurbished system.

My playstation 3, which i bought this christmas, new, is crashing alot. Alot more every day. we play call of duty black ops but it does it on a couple other games as well

Usually heat or bad sectors/ corrupt sectors on the hard drive will cause this issue.

I'd recommend getting two cans of compressed air, taking it outside and clearing out the dust, then when you play cod run a mini fan directly onto the unit.

COD runs heavy on the graphics hence it happening more with that game than others ;)

Will not play any ps3 games or movies

Hi,

The PS3 has a special Recovery Menu, which you can access in the following way:

1. Turn off Playstation 3.
2. Hold the power button down; the system will turn on and turn off once again.
3. Once the System has been shutdown, re-press you finger until you hear 2 consecutive beeps
4. When you hear the 2 beeps take finger off power button.
5. You will be prompted to plug in your controller via USB and then hit the PS button
6. The Recovery menu will pop up.

The current Recovery Menu supports:
• Restart System: Restarts the PLAYSTATION 3 System.
• Restore Default Settings: Reset all system settings back to default.
• Restore File System: Checks for corrupt/missing system files.
• Rebuild Database: Rebuilds the OS for the PLAYSTATION 3.
• Restore PS3 System: Fresh restore; Deletes everything and starts from Scratch.
• System Update: Update the PLAYSTATION 3 System

From the above select option "Rebuild Database". After PS3 has executed this DB rebuilding operation, the disc games will be visible again in the menu.

Thank you

Ps3 will not play any games

I had a similar problem. My PS3 did not start the disk based games. Those disk based games were not visible in the game menu. I did not have problems with the normal movie DVDs or Movie Blu Rays. Those were working fine.

In case you have the similar problem, you should try the following steps;

The PS3 has a special Recovery Menu, which you can access in the following way;:

Select option "Rebuild Database".

After PS3 has executed the DB rebuilding operation, the disc games will be visible again in the menu and are starting automatically when inserted to PS3.

Playstation 3 wont read some cds or play downloaded demos.

I'm also having this problem as well, it has to do with the OS and it is corrupted. It seems like the "Game mode" has been corrupted preventing us from playing games on the hard drive or reading games.
