Treadmill won't run with Safety Key Lock

Treadmill won't run. Message on Screen says Safety Key Lock. Inserting the Safety Key doesn't remove the message.

The problem was resolved after calling Nautilus directly. It turns out that there is a safety button underneath the treadmill that is there to prevent the treadmill from motor and belt from running when in folded position. Although i don't fold the treadmill, the button must have been hit when I placed my power cord near it not knowing about the button. Simply folding and unfolding the treadmill then pressing the button solved the problem. I am posting this comment in case anyone else encounters this issue.

just measure the diameter of the socket on treadmill and order a magnetic safety treadmill key.
Can get them on ebay but you would need to check the diameter of the sold key matches by contacting seller via ebay messaging.

I have a 2yr old A2550 which just recently started showing only demo information. The belt would not come on nor would the key change the system to manual mode. I used information mode just to see if...

When in Demo Mode, the console will go through a repeating lighting pattern. This

mode will only become active when the treadmill is plugged in, the main on/off switch

is turned on, and the safety key is not inserted into the console.

The Demo Mode was added to attract attention to the treadmill while it is on display. By

default, all treadmills with Demo Mode will come with it turned on. Demo Mode can be

turned off at any time.

Method #1 to switch from the Demo Mode:Press and hold the STOP button while inserting the safety key to enter the user

information mode.

Look in the Calories window. When Demo Mode is active, the letter 'd' will

appear.

Press the SPEED DOWN button to toggle the mode on and off.
Once the mode is set as desired, remove the safety key.

Just bought from store press reset button it lights up but does not display after or start

Make sure the safety key is inserted this engages the power up sequence for the unit to start operating. Also as a simple test try to get the unit into calibration mode by pressing the stop and speed up buttons at the same time while inserting the safety key Press the Stop key one time. The Time window should read EP:2P. Some newer models may also say FP, Pass, or the like. This means that it passes the EPROM test. Press either incline key and the incline will calibrate automatically. BE CAREFUL, THE TREADMILL WILL RUN AT FULL SPEED IN THIS NEXT MODE! DO NOT STAND ON THE WALKING BELT. Press the Speed Up key and hold it down until 85 is shown in the Distance window (some models may show the 85 number in another window). After completing calibration of the speed, press the Speed Down key. The treadmill will automatically return to 0 MPH. Please allow the unit to stop completely before continuing. Press the Stop key once and remove the safety key.
If either attempts fail then call the store where you purchased the treadmill, either have them send a service tech out or exchange theunit.

When I turn on the treadmill, the incline is stuck @ 12degree and the console beeps and I can not control the treadmill at all. What do I need to do?

ICON CALIBRATION INSTRUCTIONS- INCLINE
1) Press the Stop and the Speed Up keys down while inserting the safety key. If this doesn’t work, click on the help topic entitled “Alternate Calibration Codes” for key sequence instructions to enter calibration.
2) Press the Stop key one time. The Time window should read EP:2P. Some newer models may also say FP, Pass, or the like. This means that it passes the EPROM test.

4) THIS IS A VERY IMPORTANT STEP BECAUSE YOU WILL GET AN ERROR MESSAGE IF THIS STEP IS SKIPPED. After completing calibration of incline, press the Stop key and then remove the safety key.

  1. If the incline moves but you it will not operate normally nor calibrate, check the wiring from the incline sensor to the power board. If all looks normal, put it back in calibration and see if you see a blinking “- -” symbol in the incline window when you are calibrating. If not, the incline sensor is bad.

  2. If the incline moves but only just a bit, it could be a problem as simple as the gearbox on the motor being jammed. We remove the motor from the treadmill, reconnect the wiring, and then try to run the incline motor outside the treadmill. Many times, this will unjam it if that is the problem and then reinstalling it in the treadmill will get it to work. If you have the same problem or it doesn’t run outside the machine and you can hear it try to work, you need to replace the incline motor.

  3. If the incline motor does not move, we need to figure out if the motor is getting voltage. Use a simple multi-meter and set it to AC volts. When you put it into calibration, it tries to calibrate the directions one at a time. Measure across the white and black wires first, then measure across the white and red wires second. If the motor is getting voltage you will read 120VAC (or thereabouts) one one of the measurements. If you have voltage but the motor won't move, you need to replace the motor.

If the incline motor does not move and you have done the voltage test and you do not have any voltage present, there is a problem in the electronics board that supplies the power. If the console is powering the drive motor as normal, you can bet it is getting an incline signal and the power board needs to be replaced (some models have an integrated power board/controller) so if there is only a single board the whole board has to be replaced
