Question about HP DeskJet 882c InkJet Printer

1 Answer

Hp deskjet 882c printer carriage is stuck

I was taking out my color cartridge and accidently left the holder in the up position. As the carriage repositioned itself, it banged against the side and caused a grinding noise. When I placed the holder down the carriage went all the way to the right side and all three lights blink. I have unplugged it and reset it but nothing works. It just grinds and stays to the right. Any help will be great. Thanks!

Thanks, tunman, for your quick and very detailed response. I appreciate the time and effort you put in to helping me. All I could do was steps #1-3 since the carriage is jammed to the right side and unable to release the black cartride and no positive response from the printer!

Hi first of all you need to make sure that everything is in good shape on the carriage and the cartridge holder,

also check if you have any broken plastic pieces in the printer.

you mentioned the reset a well
was it a partial or a semi full reset

another thing which we can try is
1>take out both the cartridges
2> unplug the power cable while the printer is on
3>press the power button for 30 sec to remove the static
3>replug the power
now let the printer lights blink prompting you to put the cartridges
4>put the black cartridge first
some Hp printers work on single cartridges as well.
5>see if you hear the same grinding noise again
6>try cleaning the rollers with a little damp lint free cloth
7>try putting the color cartridge
make sure that the cartridges snap inside properly.
8>see if the problem persists

Similar problem, I received the printer from a friend, and when I tried to install it, the carriage was stuck on the right. I manually moved it to the left side, and got the 3 blinking lights. Could NOT find any assistance from manual or websites for this, so I tried checking it out with the aid of a flashlight.

Turns out the 'guide tape' on the back of the carriage had come loose on the end. I re-threaded it through the carriage and onto the hooks at either end (using a model 710C as a guide). This seems to have corrected the problem.

Let me know if this works for you!

If the cartridge was docked on it's station and you forced it to the other side you broke the printer

The carriage that holds the cartridges is stuck and when I open the front panel it wont move to the center as usual. I cannot print anything obviously

I have the same printer. Underneath the home position is a rubber "wiper" that cleans the underside of the cartridges. Ink buildups get dried out and can cause the carriage to stick. You may be able to " help" the carriage out of home position by GENTLY using the belt that runs from left to right to move the carriage to the left. U nderneath where the carriage previous sat you will see 2 rubber objects. Carefully wipe off any dried up ink. This is a messy job ! Good luck.

After installing re-filled ink cartridges, both color and back & white, the printer message that shows ink level still shows low level ink? How do we resolve?

Hello,

Try this procedure:
1. Open printer lid so cartridges move to center of carriage.
2. Lift clamp and remove black or color cartridge from the holder.
3. Place cartridge on table with copper contact strip facing you.
4. Carefully place a strip of clear plastic tape over the four contacts on the upper left corner of the cartridge.
5. Reinstall cartridge in printer and close lid. Wait until cartridge returns to parking position.
6. Open lid and remove cartridge again. Remove tape from left side and place tape over four contacts at upper right corner of cartridge.
7. Reinstall cartridge in printer and close lid. Wait until cartridge returns to parking position again.
8. Open lid again, remove cartridge, remove tape.
9. Reinstall cartridge and close lid.
Printer will now recalibrate. Once the process is complete the ink level meter should be reading full again.

I hope this helps, if so please rate our solution.

I have an HP Printer DEskjet 882C. The colored cartridge ran out so I put a new one in and the flashing ink light still won't go out and so now the printer still won't print... I cleaned the nodes with...

Normal 0 Normal 0 Driver could be corrupt.
Disconnect the printer or at least be sure it is turned off. I'd do both and reinstall the CD software program that came with the printer. When the software program asks you to connect the printer to the USB port, do so and it should again work properly.
Hope this helps. Bud

970 Cse cartridges bang over to the left and then nothing

I had the same problem with my HP Deskjet 970Cse which was quickly resolved by going to the below HP site and looking under the Issue: The carriage is stuck or makes a grinding noise. Note that the blinking lights displayed as: Resume Light Blinking Simultaneously AND Power Light Blinking Simultaneously.

The Solution:
1. Lift the top cover to the printer.
2. Turn the printer off and then on again.
3. Unplug the power cable from the back of the printer when the grinding noise starts.
4. Move the carriage towards the middle of the printer.
5. Take out the cartridges and close the top cover.
6. Plug the power cord to the back of the printer. Turn the printer on.
7. Open the top cover, reinstall the cartridges, and then close the top cover.

Hope this helps as it worked for me.

Light flashing printer no print

open the top lid of the printer and check whether the carriage comes to middle or not?
It it moves automatically, then its fine.

Check the End of warranty date on both the cartridges.
Deskjet 882c printer does not support reserve mode printing.
Means, even if only cartridge is defective or expired the printer will not print with other cartridge which is fine.

Both the cartridges should in inwarranty and fine.
Shake the cartridges well
With the color and black cartridges touch a clean, slightly damp cloth (squeeze out excess water),
to the printer nozzle area on the print cartridge, to see if you can make the ink flow freely.

Be careful not to touch the nozzle area (with holes on it) on the cartridges.
Wipe the copper-colored electrical contacts with a clean distilled water or clean tap water and then with a dry lint-free cotton cloth
Also using a new swab, clean the electrical contacts inside the printer, in the carriage.

Install both the cartirdges in the printer, disconnect the printer from the computer and try to print a self test and diagnostic page

Running a sample page
Turn the printer on.
Press and hold the RESUME button until the printer starts printing.
Release the RESUME button.

Running a diagnostic test
Turn the printer on.
Press and hold the POWER button.
Press the RESUME button four times.
Release the POWER button.
