Question about Xtreme Sound WMS6100RW 10-Disc CD Changer

1 Answer

Our changer works, the remote doesn't.

Is the unit faulty, or are we missing a step?

Thank you...as it turns out, there was some wiring not attached properly at the vehicle-end of the new system, so the remote was/is fine. Thanks very much for your response!

Tuning problems

Hi, This sounds like an inshop repair. The technical term for the changer being set to 88.5 but works in 97.5 is "frequency drift" and could be rectified with the use of a calibrating instrument/frequency counter and an alignment tool assuming no component replacement required. Frequency drift can be caused by component failure, humidity, temperature etc.; The part "my car off the changer stays on" could be faulty trigger on inside the changer, faulty remote trigger on in your head/radio/controller unit. Good luck and hope this gives you a few ideas. Kind regards.

I would say to take it back regardless of what the problem is. I would say the unit is bad. Does the remote work the other functions? if it does not then the remote could be bad, if the remote does work the other functions, I would think the unit is bad.

Keypad numbers no longer work to input/change channels, but the up/down channel changer still works -- how does one fix?

Connect the remote to your computer and launch the software that came with your remote. Chose the device that your having an issue with (I'm guessing the tv) from the devices tab. Click on settings. Customize Buttons. Check at the bottom of the screen if the numbers are in the command column of not. If the are missing provide them. Press done and follow the prompts If that does not fix it. Repeat the previous steps to get back to this screen and choose reset defaults. Press done and follow the prompts

My 6 cd changer has quit working

Try to disconnnect power to it so it will reset itself then try using a cd cleaning disc in it. If the problem still persists the unit is probably faulty. Cd changers was 90's technology it is time to step up to an MP3 source or music on a usb drive. You can store much more music.

To switch to “REMOTE 2” mode
1 While pressing and holding [AUX] on the main unit
Press and hold [2] until “REMOTE 2” appears on the
main unit display.
2 Press and hold [ENTER] and [2] for at least 2
seconds.
The main unit and remote control are now set to operate in
“REMOTE 2” mode.
To return to “REMOTE 1” mode
Do steps 1 and 2 above but use [1] instead of [2] for both steps.
(“REMOTE 1” appears on the main unit during step 1.)
The remote control cannot work with the main unit if their
modes are different.

you operate the remote control.
