Does it work in other chat applications (MSN, Skype)?

If you have a TV tuner card in the PC, try disabling that, as it is known to cause such problems with the Yahoo webcam detection.

Hello gkml15
the following is a link for a yahoo webcam compatibility test. http://help.yahoo.com/kb/index?y=PROD_MSNG&page=content&id=SLN1275&actp=lorax&locale=en_CA
If your webcam is compatible, please update your web cams software to the newest version.
Also it may just be that you need to have directx installed on to your computer http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=8109 Please make sure that your computer matches the requirements before installing.

Lifecam VX6000 webcam cannot be detected by yahoo messenger

Normal 0 Also send this to your family and friends so they have their computer setup properly.
Web Camera’s have to be setup on the program they are to be used with. Just installing the camera on your computer does not set it up to broadcast on messengers or Skype.
Each program has Options that have to be setup in order for the Audio and Video to function properly.
Yahoo Setup:

After downloading and installing Yahoo Messenger (http://www.soft32.com/download_30.html ) set it up as follows:

  1. Go to Messenger at the top left and click on it.
  2. Next go down to Preferences and click on it.
  3. Next Calling and Devices on the right and set the Microphone and Speakers to the computer Audio Card.
  4. Next go to the Test Audio section and (in blue writing) click on “Open the call setup assistant” and follow the instructions on the left window.
Hope this helps. Bud

Yahoo doesnt recognise my webcam

Make sure you have all software loaded for the device. Double-check Logitech's website to make sure there are no additional drivers or upgrades needed for your webcam to work with your computer.

Once all of that is taken care of:
Go to http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/messenger/messenger8/webcam/mstatestcamie.html

using Internet Explorer only (other broswers won't work)

It will prompt you to install the Yahoo Webcam Upload Wrapper plugin

Then, you should be good to go.
