Question about Maytag Dryers

1 Answer

I have a maytag dryer, fairly new and not used that much. It is overheating and shutting off. This weekend, we took it apart and found sand in the lint trap and cleaned it all out. The vent is clean too. However, it is still shutting off as if it is not venting properly. Any ideas on what could be wrong?

Check the entire exhaust system for blockages. check all components that make up the entire exhaust system. this includes the vent hose and blower assembly as well. if the exhaust system if free of obstructions, this will confirm a faulty High limit thermostat. replace this failed component asap. During the exhaust check, make sure when the unit is drying that, it is blowing at a high rate. you should feel a good forceful air flow out the vent. if its weak, you will need to clear the blockage.

Maytag dryer not starting

You must replace the hi limit thermostat and the thermal fuse.
They come as a set and must both be replaced.
They are located on the heating element.

Maytag Dryer will not start again

Check list:
clear vent pipe
dryer clean of lint
blower wheel tight
drum turns freely
fuse tight against heater.
Wires not shorted on high limit mounted above heater
electric bill paid.
