Question about Computers & Internet

1 Answer

At start-up, a window appears containing the following text: Asus A7V8X Press[tab] to show POST screen; press [Alt]=F2 to enter EZ Flash utility then the computer does not respond to the keyboard: the mouse pointer does not appear, and the only way to get out is by brutally switching teh computer off. If I try to switch on again, the same situation repeats, until, after several attempts, perhaps a few hours later, the computer starts normally. I hesitate to try showing the POST screen or enter the EZ flash utility, because I do not know what they are. Any suggestion?

I haven't tried it yet (the PC in question is about 500 miles from here and I cannot put hands on it for at least a month), but your suggestions do make sense, and I am confident I will be able to locate and eliminate the source of trouble.
    Thank you

The message you are getting is normal, and a similar message shows on every computer as it is booting. Some computers have this message hidden by a splash screen, often a company logo. After this message, the computer SHOULD hand off the boot process to your boot device. Usually this will be your hard drive and your computer will load the operating system and finish booting. In your situation I would try disconnecting the hard drive (computer off of course), then try rebooting. If you see the window with the same message, followed by an error message about no operating system or no boot device then you know your hard drive is bad and replacing it (reinstalling your operating system and all other files) will fix your computer.

If you disconnect the hard drive and still get no message then your motherboard is not functioning properly, not even getting to the point where it is handing off to the boot device. In that case I would try reseating your memory and video card and if that does not work you'll probably have to replace the motherboard.

How do I turn on my wifi switch on my Asus F555l

Hi there,

Usually hold the [ fn ] key and the [ f2 ] together or just the [ f2 ] key depending on how your "Hotkeys" are setup. If you've had a fresh install of windows or the drivers aren't working properly you can do it manually by going into the bios like so:
Step 1
Turn on your Asus Netbook. If your netbook is already on, click the "Start" button, click the arrow next to the "Shut Down" button and then click "Restart."

Step 2
Wait for the Asus Netbook BIOS screen to appear, then press the "F2" key.
Step 3
Press the "Right" arrow to scroll over to the "Advanced" tab.
Step 4
Press the "Down" arrow until you reach the "Onboard Devices Configuration" option. Press the "Enter" key.
Step 5
Press the "Down" arrow to "Onboard WLAN" then press the "Enter" key.
Step 6
If the "Disabled" option is highlighted, press the "Up" arrow to highlight the "Enabled" option, then press the "Enter" key.
Step 7
Press the "F10" key. Press the "Enter" key to save your changes and exit the BIOS. Note: If you are missing your hotkey drivers you can find them here under the ATK section (Use the latest version) http://support.asus.com/download.aspx?SLanguage=en&p=3&s=670&m=F555LA&os=&hashedid=n%2fa

Bat bios checksum problems solve

Step 1:
Update ASUS BIOS b> Insert bootable floppy disk or USB drive. Copy the updated BIOS file to floppy disk or USB drive.
(Note: BIOS file and boot files should fit on a floppy disk. If the BIOS file is too large to fit with boot files, consider using the EZ Flash method described below.) Insert the motherboard support CD into optical drive. Copy AFUDOS.EXE from CD to a floppy disk or USB drive. Reboot. When the DOS prompt appears, type the following: afudos /i[name of BIOS file]For example, "p4c800b.rom" might be the name of the new BIOS file. "afudos
/ip4c800b.rom" is the command that will install it. Wait. Your monitor will display the update's progress with a series of messages: "Reading file," then "Erasing flash," then "Writing flash." The "writing flash" message will be followed with a percentage counter that tells you how far the write has proceeded. The final message will be
"Verifying flash." DO NOT switch off or reboot at any point in this process or you will ruin your motherboard. After the update is complete, the utility will return to the DOS prompt. Remove your floppy disk and reboot. Enter the BIOS Menu and load "Setup Default." Save and reboot. You're finished. b> Update Using EZ Flash Copy your new BIOS files to a floppy disk or USB drive. Reboot. When the system is at POST, press "Alt" + "F2" to enter EZ-Flash. Alternatively, on late model motherboards you may press "Delete" to enter BIOS setup, then access EZ-Flash from the "Tools" option on the navigation bar. (Select Tools > ASUS EZ Flash 2 > YES) Wait for your system to check current BIOS information. Insert your floppy or USB with the new BIOS file. Select the drive letter with the BIOS update file, then select the file. Wait for your system to check the update file. After the file check is finished, click "Yes" to update your BIOS. Wait. Let the update procedure run until it finishes. Do not switch off or reboot or you will ruin your motherboard. When the update is finished, remove the floppy or USB drive and reboot. Enter the BIOS Menu and load "Setup Default." Reboot. You're finished. b> Update Through the Internet If it isn't installed already, install the ASUS Update utility. You can either download it or use the copy on your motherboard's support CD. Close all Windows applications if any are running. Launch the ASUS Update utility from the Windows desktop by clicking "Start>Programs>ASUS>ASUSUpdate>ASUSUpdate." The "ASUS Update" main window will then appear. Select "Update BIOS" from the "Internet option" drop-down menu. Click "Next." Select the ASUS FTP site nearest you, or choose "Auto Select." Click "Next." From the FTP site, select the BIOS version that you wish to download. Click "Next." Start the update. Wait for it to complete.

I was told press F2 simultaneously on startup, nothing happened

You need not to press F2 or tab or escape unless you need to do so. If your system is ok, it'll automatically boot up, but if there's boot up problem with your system, then that's different. Thanks for using FixYa.

Also make sure that all cables are snug tight and generally ree from dust. The same applies to your RAM too................sodeep

Cervical Cushion- Pillows for Neck Pain Are you a very sedentary person? Do you have a classic office job and are 8 hours or more sitting in front of a computer? Then you most likely suffer from cervical pain. Cervical pain means having severe pain in the neck area because of an incorrect position of our cervix for quite some time. The cervical block or its numbness is due to the unnatural compression of the vertebrae. In this guide you will find all information about cervical pain, how to prevent them and how to cure them, but above all you will learn how to choose your cervical cushion that will help you lessen the pain or make it disappear completely. In the following table you will find some models of cervical pillows that can be found on the market, along with some of the major features that distinguish them. How to Choose a Cervical Cushion Since on the market you can find a great multitude of cervical pillow models, choose the most suitable one and certainly not a small business. First of all, choosing the most appropriate one is to understand what pathology you are suffering from. Although we often call it neck pain, cervical is not always the same in all cases. In this regard, it is understood that not everyone can use the same cushion. There are cases where the patient needs a more flexible pillow, others where there is a need for stiffer material, so before buying your new cervical cushion it would be interesting to consult your trusted physician, who can visit you and decide for you what is best suited to your pathology. Another factor could concern the price, but being in the medical field I recommend closing an eye on this item, ten euros more or less are nothing when it comes to health. Moreover, the price is directly proportional to the quality of the material used and of course there are materials that cost more than others. So as you see there are several factors to consider. Take care of all the advice you'll find on these pages and you too will be able to make the right choice. What is cervical pain and remedies? The area of ??the cervical vertebrae is that portion of our body that accuses so-called cervical pain when our neck or our head is in an incorrect position for several hours. This area is very important for our health and our well-being. In practice it connects our body and especially the spine to the head, with all the nerve endings that pass right in this particular area and very sensitive. When this area is subjected to a continuous stress, we do not only pain neck pain, but we also compromise the proper functioning of the head movement. Very often the pain becomes so strong that besides affecting the neck, it moves to the upper shoulders and joints, causing the famous head turns and also nausea. In the most severe cases a capatina is recommended by your doctor. Among the various factors that can trigger these severe pains are incorrect posture or an improper pillow. At the origin of this evil, however, there are also muscle contractions, trauma and stress. For this reason, the cervical pillow was born, which relieves the pain and allows the neck to be in the correct position. Structure, shape and material are designed to fit perfectly to the shape of the neck, sustaining it and giving it relief.
